      Flying as a reality check.

I hadn't really thought of it as a reality check.. I had flew for about 1 minute in a lucid and I enjoyed it so much that in other dreams i've tried to fly AFTER i acknowledged that this may be a dream.. (this happened for about 9 or 10 times) I've made a previous thread about how i just put my hand up in the air and jump and seem to come back down just like the real world. I've done other rc's, i.e nose/mouth plug, hands etc. but i have yet to experience a lucid through a rc.
Anyone have success with flying as a rc?

just got this off world-of-lucid-dreaming.com, ranked reality checks..
1 Breathing - Can you hold your nose and mouth shut and breathe?
2 Jumping - When you jump, do you float back down?
3 Reading - Can you read a sentence twice without it changing?
4 Vision - Is your vision clearer or blurrier than normal?
5 Hands - Can you push your right fingers through your left hand?
6 Time - Can you read a clock face or digital watch?
7 Magic - Can you fly, shape shift or walk through walls?
8 Palms - Do the palms of your hands look normal?
9 Mirrors - Does your reflection look normal in the mirror?
10 Math - Can you add up two numbers for a correct answer?

Anything that cannot be done in waking life, but can be done in a dream can be a reality check. So flying would most certainly work, but I think that something like text changing, or time not showing, or breathing RC's are more efficient and common in dreams. Flying doesn't happen naturally in a lot of my dreams, but hey, if you fly a lot when your dreaming then do it!

If flying is consistently easy for you in a dream, it should work as a reality check. Just don't jump off any buildings, or anything stupid. When I am reality checking, I also go through a few scenarios through my mind of what I would do if this was a dream. Flying is often one of them.

It could work, but what if it isn't a dream??

"Hmm, is this a dream? I'll jump of here just to check.... Nope, not a dream"

      SPLAT!

Flying, or jumping tall buildings, is a great Rc but it is also a great way of ending a LD early as it's tough to fly without getting an adrenaline rush that leads to an awakening.

I normally ask someone a really stupid question.
      EG:
      "How are your fish crackers?"
"Wtf?! Are you alright?" - Most likely not dreaming, follow up with reliable rc.

      "How are your fish crackers?"
"Amazing! How are your small jewish children?" MOST likely dreaming xD
Sadly, I have a few friends who would respond like this IRL..

It could also work against you. If you do not believe it is a dream than you may not be able to fly and decide its not a lucid. For me most dream powers only work if I believe I can do it. Trying to fly in non dream can be a bit tricky to attempt.

I often don't even notice that I was flying until after I wake up (once when I was lucid even), so this probably won't work for me.

      My goals: Have a lucid dream[x] Waterbend[ ] Become a ghost[ ] Experience a scene from a book/movie as if I was there[ ]

One of the few RCs I occasionally do in a dream is a gravity check. If I can jump to the top of a building, or perhaps a telephone pole, I know I'm dreaming. Once the LD begins, however, I avoid flight simply because it tends to wake me up from the excitement.

Well sometimes I just imagine my body floating up into the air or I jump and see if gravity seems normal. It works for me I still like to stick with the class nose pinching reality check, though. If it works for you...great!
