Does anybody else just know they're dreaming?

The last two lucid dreams I've had, I don't remember doing any sort reality check in the beginning I just knew I was dreaming. Then of course, I did a reality check and found out that I was right.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

That's pretty much how it always happens. Yeah, reality checks are mainly just to confirm that you are indeed dreaming. It's awareness that really causes lucidity.

Yea exactly what Dark matters said, I've never became lucid by just doing a reality check first, the reality check is used to confirm you are dreaming when you already have the idea that you are. In fact, in my dreams where I randomly Rc'ed, I don't remember becoming lucid in them (there are very few like that anyway) and all my lucids come either WILD or knowing that I'm dreaming because of something wierd happening in the dream. Sometimes even, nothing wierd happens and I just realize I am dreaming even though everything seems normal.

Most of my lucids occur without ever needing to do any reality checks - I just do them for the sake of extra awareness. I'll be in a dream and then without any indication I'm like ''Hey, this is a dream'', but not verbally or mentally, it's more like instinct.

Yeah, i can do this.. or have this. I call it 'Natural Ability' Basically.. its when you require no techniques in order to lucid dream. you can do it just by your mental ability of wanting to do this and having that mind set.. . Sometimes when your unaware you can do this, it won't work.. or at least in my experience... it's like an awakening..

Mhm most people become lucid before the RC, nothing weird. Now if you are one of the few who becomes lucid AFTER the RC, thats another story.

Normally i find myself doing a reality check out of habbit to see if i was ( not that i had any doubts ) only to find out i was dreaming. however some dreams i have just been like oh wow im dreaming? and then did a rc. i think it has to do with certain parts of the brain are not shut down yet and you begin to see that things are odd? anyways good luck ^^

most of my lucids have been without RCs. I guess just sensing that you're in a dream and jumping out of the nearest window is kind of dangerous so I've been lucky those few times.

My first one required a reality check. After that, all the friggin' time. Y'know, I don't think I can remember a single dream afterward that required an RC. I always just... knew. Somewhat bizarre.

The problem is, when you spontaneously become lucid when you're a newbie you'll know that you're not fully asleep yet, and you need stabilization ASAP
