      Question ADA Questions

      Background:
I've been trying ADA lately. It's been about three days since I decided to use this form of DILD, and the first day was relatively easy. Whenever I got the urge, I tried to notice everything I possibly could and heighten some of senses. It was easy at first but got progressively harder as my day went on. The second day I had a lot of problems being aware but still managed to do it a few times even though I tried all day. Today I've done it sparingly and it seems like it's getting a little easier or I'm at least learning the ropes. I've tried noticing NEW things every day.

      Problems/Questions
I have yet to induce a second lucid dream, but my dreams are becoming mildly more vivid. Is this a sign of progress?

Obviously everybody is different, but how long can I expect for this ADA technique to start kicking in? (I understand this is a bad question)

I need more tips on ADA. How do I know I'm doing it right?

P.S. Any motivation you guy's can offer would be amazing, I'm starting to become discouraged as I have only had one LD. The motivation thread isn't really doing it for me anymore

Thank you all in advance for any enlightenment you can provide.

I do sporatic awareness throughout the day. Personally I think the name "All Day Awarenss" is a bit misleading as that's impossible. I find drawing attention to my awareness just a few times a day very useful though. My advice would be not to try too hard or it just gets frustrating.

Then what can I do to get a consistent "every-night" DILD technique going?

I don't think very many people DILD every night. I'm sure the more awareness you practice the better so long as you don't do so much you get frustrated.

When I practice awareness I also try pretending that I might actually be dreaming, trying to conjure the feeling as much as possible. I developed a little mind game where I imagine that all I can see, feel etc. is all I can truly know. If I am in a room, I imagine that all I know for certain is in this room. If I can hear something coming from outside, I tell myself that all I really know is my own experience of the sound. If I hear people talking from the next room for example, it doesn't mean there are people in the next room, that is just an assumption we make to build pictures of what is beyond our awareness. If this was a dream, the next room could just as easily be a beach or the subway.

It helps me a lot anyway. I never tried explaining it before so I hope it makes sense

Like the ancient question "if a tree falls in a forest with nobody to hear it, does it still make a sound when it hits the ground?" or, more recent, "Does the light even exist anymore when the refrigerator door is closed?"

I kinda do that too, I guess. I sometimes wonder if the walls are really walls made of bricks and not, for example, ginger bread..

All the motivation you need is - you had a lucid dream, you are now, whether you like it not - OFFICIALLY a lucid dreamer
Though no one said it would all be easy.. to master this skill takes determination and patience. You are certainly learning a worthwhile technique, awareness is the key to realising when you are dreaming, though it will not come instantly. Have patience young grass hopper, persist and eventually your awareness will manifest into the dreamworld, for now keep practising and enjoying your dreams, take care

      Yeah, something like that

And that would be a cool task for December, make all buildings made of ginger bread and eat a city.

The only 'awareness' exercise I do these days is five minutes before bed. This is probably because awareness is so ingrained with my daily consciousness. Deep relaxation techniques combined with visualization helps me enter non-REM dreams lucid.
