For most people conscious resistance will get in the way and ruin the endeavour. For example if someone was to say throughout the morning as you suggest, 'I can have a lucid dream whenever I want as its so easy and tonight I am going to have a brilliant lucid dream' that is all well and good.

Unfortunately for most people their next thought will be along the lines of, 'No I won't I find it really hard to have a lucid dream, hell I cant even remember my dreams most nights.'

The result of this is that the subconscious will accept the verbal command that the conscious mind believes the most, which sadly in the above case will be the second one for most people.

This post is a great example of why it won't work for some.

Like the OP said you need to:

truly believe that what you are saying is absolutely true and theres no doubt in your mind that it will work.

If you can't achieve that this technique won't work for you.

It's fine for more than one person to come up with the same idea as long as it isn't directly copied. Most of this forum is made up of different people discovering the same thing or variants of the same experience.
