      Pulling in the whole consciousness...help

I do the reality checks and keep at dream journal and remember my dreams quite well. But whenever I become lucid(which has been only a couple of times cause I just started a couple of weeks ago) I have a very low level of control and consciousness. I mean last night I kept rubbing my hands together telling myself I was dream to fully "wake up" and it just wasn't happening. I was able to remember my lucid goals though. I yelled out for a magic potion to appear and a goo-filled vile showed up. Then when I remembered my second goal, to meet Austin Powers, I yelled out for my dream to show him to me and my little brother showed up and told me to be quiet. Looking back on it I could have performed some more intense reality checks, but my memory was a little hazy. And a couple of nights ago, I had a wild where I felt like I left my body. The problem was that I doubted that it was a dream and thought it was real. So when I tried to float through a door I just bounced off and then it just faded to a normal dream. Any idea of what to do? thanks

It could have been the timing of your LD. When I have a LD at the end of my REM cycle, I usually have very little control, and I'm not thinking very hard either. But if I have a LD, near the beginning of my REM cycle or middle, they last a long time and are very vivid and controllable.

A great stabilizing technique is to crawl on the ground. It uses your whole dream body, so it grounds you in the dream pretty well. I had an hour long LD using that technique, also I nose RCed a bunch of times to remind myself I'm dreaming. Lucid dreams also get better with practice and time, so yours will get better soon, almost guaranteed if you keep trying!

Full consciousness and full control are FARR different things, trust me in that one.

In that dream you seems pretty conscious, but with not much control. How aware and conscious of everything you are has no real effect on your control, or in my case at least.

USA said it well, practice and time makes it better, I have found my first few LDs were like I was hazy, or only had use of some of my brain. Now when I get lucid, it's as good as real life.

You could try finding out when the beginning of your REM cycle is, and set an alarm to WBTB just before it or at the start. Even if you don't WILD, it makes LDs more likely.

      Ooh, their breath is warm
      And they smell like sleep
And they say they take me home
      Like poppies heavy with seed
They take me deeper and deeper

That sounds like a pretty good lucid dream. It can be hard to think straight, sometimes. Every dream is different, and some are more lucid than others. I agree that it gets easier with practice.

Thanks guys, I actually had a pretty good one last night. I really did crawl on the ground after realize I was conscious and ended up being lucid for a very long time. Big thanks for that tip USA, you helped me gain enough consciousness for my first flying dream haha

Awesome, man, I'm glad that technique worked for you too! I wasn't sure if it was just me that it worked for!
