Waking up after trying to stabilize dream

Pretty much everytime I became lucid, dream was very dark and blury, and so I would always get back to normal dream.
So, I tried to spin in dream (to stabilize and make dream more real) and I woke up, and that kept happening for about 3-5 times me getting lucid, so I decided i should give a try to hand rubbying - AND I WOKE UP AGAIN.

Could somebody please tell me why is this happening ?

You have to stabilize without fear of loosing your dream, but usually the motivation is fear of losing the dream, so..
Anyway, stabilization is imo a good habit

Try to spin slowly and see if it helps
Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

I think your problem is similar to mine... I've had many small lucid dreams, and almost all the same as yours (dark, or blurry), but it's because it happens on the end of REM cycle... meaning you was about to wake up.

The thing is that the fact this happens is because you're slowly getting used to get lucid, and as I was told on these forums, that means that eventually you'll get lucid earlier. Well of course you also need to practice in the waking world with RCs, some mantras, dream journal, etc...

The only decent lucids I had lasted maybe 30-60 seconds, looked pretty sharp and vivid, but also a bit weird, but mostly it happens to me as you describe... false awakenings in a dark room, or just dreaming normal, geting lucid and everything goes dark and I only see shadows, until I wake up.

One important thing anyway is to learn to don't get excited. At start I was overexcited. Now when I get lucid I see it more like something "normal", try to stay as calm as possible, and see it as another chance to try to excercise stabilization or do some excercises I read here (like go through a wall (even if I don't see clearly)), try to see and rub my hands, etc... before I wake up which I know will happen really fast.

In any case, good luck and don't get negative

Not necessarily, one shouldn't fear loosing the dream. If you are, you are seeing the loss of the dream as a threat - something to be feared. If you fear it, one will tend to give it power over them. For if it didn't, why would they fear it?

So weather your fearing it or not, Don't let the dream hold power over your mind. KNOW that you are able to stabilize, and maybe seek out some new stabilization techniques to see if they have a better effect!

      Hope this helps, Happy dreaming!

I've never got excited when became lucid, idk why, but every time I got lucid i've fallen back to normal dream (probably because of blurriness) and ended up dreaming about being lucid, I do unreal stuff, but ridiculous things, things I'd never do.

I stopped doing RC's and any stuff related to lucid dreams because I got tired of trying, but now I get them, idk why is this happening.
And I always get lucid without any clue or something, I just get this feeling and I know I'm dreaming lol.

      Thanks for reply.

Use it to your advantage then! Maybe create a dream goal you can carry out when you come to a realization that your dreaming, as to not waste any time thinking "Hmm... What to do, what to do?" And also, like i had previously said, try out different stabilization techniques to see if they have a better effect on clearing up the blur you experience.

This always happens to me! I seem to always get lucid just as I'm about to wake. The last time I tried to rub my hands together but as I did it my hands seemed to fragment in front of my eyes, so I tried spinning, but I just span up into the air and woke up. I know I just need to keep calm, but it's so difficult in just a few seconds to get your brain into gear!
Any other suggestions for how to keep calm and stabilise?
