      Clothes!

Lately anytime I remind myself to become more self aware or aware in general I focus on only the feel of my clothes. The feel of my trousers brushing my legs and tee-shirt tight or loose against me... My trainers and socks ect.
In all my dream I cannot feel my body which I'm assuming most people cannot. My question is... Doesn't anyone here try this or think it could work.... I want to be in a dream in the next month or so and trigger a dild due to not being able to feel my clothes/body.
What i like about this is that it's very easy to do and can do all throughout the day =)

Sounds like a promising idea to me because you condition yourself to watch out for something feeling different and this will likely induce lucidity. And as you said it's easy to do and doesn't look weird if done in front of people

Is that true? I'm pretty sure I can feel my body though it definitely feels different or may be limited to the parts I pay attention to or that are engaged in interacting with the surroundings.
I also remember a dream in which I went outside on a cold winter day and wondered about my inappropriate short clothes. But I can't say for sure if I indeed felt them on me or if I just knew / looked down what I was wearing.
Why not simply use the feeling of your body if this clearly indicates your dream state?

With me I never really feel my body in a dream asif I don't have a body... Sometimes I may feel like warmth or discomfort but never the actual feeling of my arms or legs.
I've been doing this type of r/c on and off through the day for a week or so now.... I'll let you know after a month or so if I have any lucids =)
I used to have 1 a week but iv hit a spell of non for quiet a while now even tho my recall is good so wish me luck and thanks for the reply =)

Strange that this seems to vary from person to person, too. What do you feel if you pass through objects (walls etc) in LDs? Just nothing, no resistance whatsoever? I often get stuck halfway through and then it feels as if I would push my entire body against that surface in reality.

By the way, last night I kinda tested your suggested method unintentionally.
I was flying with a DC in a non-lucid dream (according to the dream's logic that was absolutely plausible). When we were going into a steep dive he told me to focus on my body. Well, I did as told and I could indeed feel it; it felt intense and great. Sadly I didn't go lucid but as I don't normally fly in waking reality, the comparison might have been a bit difficult

You dream sounds wkd.... I had a dream about a week ago where I was breathing under water yet my silly unconscious brain sees it as normal lol
I had a LD once where I asked out loud 'show me something important' I then floated off the ground and my entire body was tingling... Such an amazing feeling.
We will both hopefully have a lucid dream soon... Screw it we will have a lucid dream very soon know it!!!

I did go through a mirror once in a lucid dream and felt the liquid of the mirror go over my hands and then face ect I'm pretty sure I can feel my body in LDs but hardly at all in regular dreams... Which I'm hoping will cause lots of lucidity in the future if I stick to body awareness =)

Going through a mirror is actually next on my 'lucid list'. I've already tried to some weeks ago but I wasn't completely convinced of being in a dream and so it seemed too solid. Obviously, I then flew away

That reminds me of swimming in an aquarium with lots of fish once. I only got lucid upon waking up but could vividly feel the water flowing around my body. That feeling even persisted shortly after being fully awake.

Thinking of this I remember a few (non-lucid) dreams in which I was physically injured and felt pain quite realistically I'd say. This too transferred into waking, gladly only as a dull pressure. How is this for you, do you feel pain if you don't normally feel your body in dreams?

In a lucid dream I touched a thorn and I felt a sharp pain in my fingers....as for normal dreams I can't say i do feel pain.
Definatly try going through a mirror... Doing it myself was such a weird and amazing experience....only downfall was once I came out the mirror I was just in a different room in the same house lol but going through it and bieng inside was very unusual.
Strangely enough I haven't got a goal for my next lucid... Just bieng in the lucid dream will give me enough happiness and to explore and feel things..... I do want to turn around and see what's behind me.... Sounds strange but iv never done it. Iv heard its not what you expect =D

Hey, I'd recommend you checking out Sivason's classes here on Dreamviews. He talks about visualization. You might already be able to do this, but if not, you can practice and you can visualize/imagine/feel your 'body' move around, feel your skin and feel how it folds, etc... This can help you feel a dream body if you wish it in a dream. Alternatively, there is no need to limit yourself with a body in a dream since it's not an actual physical experience. You've been doing well enough pricking your finger, crossing mirrors and such without feeling a body.

So yes, great idea using your perception of your body to test reality. It's as good as anything (similar to looking at your hands). The thing is though it's possible to see proper hands or feel your body, there's just a good chance of noticing something is off.

Thanks I'll check it out! I'm hoping oncekeeping my attention on my clothes/body forms a habit it should go into my dreams.
One sentence has always stuck with me when it comes to lucid dreaming which is quiet basic but opens your eyes which is.... 'your unconscious in your dreams as much as your unconscious in your waking life'.
Iv done and tried different things alot in the past with LDs but I'm now back to basics... Haven't had one in about 2-3 months.
Thanks for the advice and have you found your way to be become lucid more frequently? Sorry for the nosey question =)

I also like its complement: "You are conscious in your dreams like you are conscious in your waking life"

Well, I have the philosophy that all my dreams are "lucid" (in the conscious sense). For me to feel anything, even if I don't remember it, I must be somewhat conscious. So, I think we're always conscious in dreams, and then we can have "lucid" moments where our cognitive faculties become clearer. I love my "non-lucids" as much as my "lucids" so I don't try too hard. I say, make dreams part of your life. I make a point of remembering my dreams, writing them down, analyzing patterns, seeing what parts are relevant to my waking life... Surprisingly (for me), lack of lucidity (which is completely normal while asleep) causes some unpleasant situations. For example, I believe "dream police" is when you are lucid enough to find things odd, you realize you shouldn't be... here? Where am I? You realize you shouldn't be doing what you're doing? What am I doing? If you feel guilty, you become a criminal in your dream. Anyway, that's my dream behaviour. In these moments, being more lucid, understanding that it's okay for things to be off, I'm dreaming, can remove the "police" interruption for example. So then, I set my mind to have the wanted reaction in such events. I also set other intentions but I'm more than willing for things not to go the way I want.

About reality checks, I don't make them about just lucid dreaming. My reality checks are a moment to meditate on what's real. Am I interpreting obstacles in my life to be bigger than they are? Am I turning a blind eye to some obstacles that are truly bigger than I make them out to be? My feelings are valid, but assessing reality can be useful to ground my feelings. During these periodic reality checks, I might also use them to relax, or to resource myself, and yes, question whether I am dreaming or awake.

My advice might not be what you're looking for, haha, but since I'm not disciplined, it's how I make my practice consistent. Instead of lucid dreaming being my hobby, dreaming is my hobby. Whether I "lucid dream" or not, whether I remember or not, every night is a success. I had a "lucid dream" last night but it's not labelled that way in my journal. I don't count them. But if I look at my last week logs, I can find a few comments about "lucid threshold skepticism", "lucid threshold guilt", "lucid thought." I mark them because I set the intention for certain behaviours when I come upon them. The goal is not really lucidity but for the flow of the dream to be uninterrupted by small increments of lucidity. That's my take at the moment.
