Lucidity is much more about who you are than what you do. The technique proponents will tell you otherwise, but my experience (and that of authors like Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche (TWR) and Andrew Holecek) is that how we "be" during waking determines how we "be" in night-time dreams. In other words, to continually boost your dreaming lucidity, aim for continually brighter, stronger, longer lucidity during the day.

There is no stronger method of bringing consistent lucidity to dream than by abiding continuously in lucid presence during the day
