shared dreaming experienced but needs verifying - but do you have the number?

OK, I think I may have had my first shared dream last night (while either astral projecting or being lucid)

After wandering around a town/city for a while I found myself in a small room with a group of other people (allot of these people had very bright and different colours about them). I talked to one in particular - he had short dark hair, a round face and was very friendly - I told him that we needed to verify that this was really a shared dream and told him a specific number to remember - if anybody had a similar dream yesterday and remembers some guy telling him to remember a particular number post up here - hopefully I can get some verification!!

I don't think it was me, but also a few days ago someone gave me a blue paper with a phone number on it and I tried really hard to remember it and give it a call to the person (dreamer). I looked away from it twice and the number didn't change, so I thought that was important. Unfortunately only many hours after awaking I could recall this dream bit and the number was gone from my memory already... It was around 3 days ago.

Just describe a part (maybe a third or half) of the dream, but not the entirety of what you remember. If the person is able to describe the part of the dream that you didn't reveal, and it is accurate, congrats.

Nothing, sorry. I'll take a guess, though. 01765894

Tell me if it was right... I doubt it, though.

Numbers are easy to forget. There's a suggestion around that you use a password chose by you - some word that can trigger a visual image in the mind of people, so it is easy to recall. Then whenever you meet someone you think might be another dreamer, tell the person to remember the word and be persistent. I'm gonna try this myself. Though, there's always the problem that people don't recall their dreams most of the times we ask them. But we never know, we must keep trying.

ionfort - thats a great way of verifying a shared dream but how do I find out to contact them? the thing is - I have a terrible memory, so if I was told somebody's email address in a dream I'd probably forget it!!

      Subliminal messages ftw.

Some people want to use them as security in airports (with words like "bomb" and "terrorists", etc etc etc) while reading their brains (the idea is that the terrorists brains will react differently than regular people). They will use numbers to be interpreted by the subconscious.

      COOL, interesting!

Ok, so i ve been thinking this through and I think I have a good way to verify a shared dream even if only one person remembers:

First off we need to be talking to someone from this forum in a dream (this helps to simplify everything allot) so the two dreamers can say each others user name to each other. The next thing would be to tell each other a specific word, a pre determined password as matarara suggested, (written down somewhere and hidden away from everybody ) so that if you really think you ve had a shared dream you know who to pm and you know how to verify it ( if it is someone who does not know the forum at least try to get them to remember the name of the forum, as nomad (selene) did when coming across an outsider)

Let me know what you think guys!

It would have the same success rate as a number. Except if somebody had pwn recall, then it would definitely be a WAY higher success rate.

OOOH, IDEA! Tell somebody IN ADVANCE what to dream when they come across you in a dream! If you both dream it then you know it worked! ^.^ I'm so awesome sometimes!

This can go wrong. You may have hundreds of dreams in on night. By reminding someone elements of your supposed 'shared dream' you may recall a mixture of dreams and fool yourselves. Instead- both of you write as detailed an account of the dreams as possible. Do not show each other the journal entry until you have both finished recalling every detail you can. Then compare them.
