Can you wake up in the middle of the night without using an alarm?

I've had a few experiences with waking up just before my alarm goes off, or waking up naturally at a time of night that I wanted to.

Like last night when I had my first successful WILD, I woke up naturally in the middle of the night and had the impulse to try WILDing. It was all unintentional, and completely successful.

I find that when I use an alarm, it startles me too much and either, I forget the dream I had or I am too tired because I was woken up too early, or both. This is problematic for dream recall and WILDing successfully in the middle of the night.

Anyone wake themselves up without an alarm? How do you do it, do you just have to go to sleep early enough and have the intent to wake up? Does not being in full belief that it will work make it not work? Thanks.

This should NOT be in beyond dreaming, as this isn't anything paranormal or whatever, but on to the question.

Whenever a dream ends, I wake up naturally and can remember it, don't really have to put any intent into it, but if I want to WILD, an alarm is needed.

Implant the time mnemonically. While laying in bed, try to hypnotize (or at least repeateadly say to yourself) that you wake after every dream. After waking up, write down your dream.

Usually I just make a mental note and premeditate what time I intend to wake up before I go to bed, and as long as I haven't been "partying heartily" I can wake up without an alarm. Have you ever intentionally woken yourself up in the middle of the night without an alarm? I actually woke up unintentionally after my first WILD as well because I was flying about and my dream and kind of crash landed back into my body, jolting me awake. Fun stuff!

Ah sorry about that. Where do you suggest I put this type of question?

Okay, gotcha. Thanks everyone! So basically tell myself I'll wake up after a dream, and I will unless I went to sleep too late.

The best time to wild is immediately upon waking naturally. We do this every night but we intuitively decide to roll over and go back to sleep. Strong intent to catch awakening will give even more wild experiences no pun intended. Happy travels namaste.
