Is it possible to have a town to dream in?

Basically just the title. I want to build a dreamtown so that I can have a different life cause mine right now doesn't have much content.

I'd imagine its possible, but you'd need to design the town first, have the vast majority of your dreams in said town, or be lucid and have dream control to a high enough degree that you could teleport there, not to mention the immense recall needed to keep it consistent. This is all kind of irrelevant to the main issue, which (I hope I'm not being insulting or reading too much in to it), while there's nothing wrong with using dreams as a form of escapism, attempting to substitute your whole life for it, quite frankly, unhealthy and, because of the issues I've just outlined, likely to be fruitless, especially since you'll inevitably wake up to real life, anyway.

I do, however, understand where you are coming from; I've been there myself. But this isn't the answer (what is, I;m still trying to figure out)

Hmmmm, well I don't think it's unhealthy, haven't you ever heard reality is only what you perceive it to be? Also, what's to stop someone from having a little fun in their dreams. And it is most certainly possible. The idea your talking about, sort of, is called a persistent realm. And while, it does take a certain level of advanced dream control, its achievable. And, I said sort of because you said, a town, but, a persistent realm is well, an entire realm or world. I don't mean to really be contrary here, but if you did manage to create a persistent realm, it honestly wouldn't be very difficult to maintain, with regard to recall. Because, you wouldn't have to consciously recall it, your subconscious does all the work for you, it's the same way you dream of a place from real life in perfect detail, you wouldn't consciously know all of the details but your subconscious does. You know honestly, it wouldn't even take that much dream control now that I think of it. A persistent realm isn't so much dream control as it is the belief that the realm will persist. So, if you have strong enough belief, dream control isn't all that necessary only the ability to teleport, which, I wouldn't at all consider to be advanced. Hmm, I feel like I'm beginning to rant here. Anyways if you want to know more about persistent realms. I'd recommend reading Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views - Hyu's Adventures - Dream Journals. This one is specifically about persistent realms --> Persistent realms and other lucid dreaming techniques I use. - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views. So, yea if you have more questions or anything, respond here or pm me if you want, I'm actually working on implementing a persistent realm right now.

Cool idea, reminds me of a memory palace that people create for memory competitions.

It can be a room, a house, a neighborhood, town, country, alternate universe, not even the sky is the limit!

Here is where my most memorable dreams take place - in my childhood neighborhood. Some dreams are bad, some good.
None are lucid but that is OK, just being home fills me with joy.

Maybe in the waking life, try to write a story about your ideal life, concentrating heavily on the PLACE, if physical setting is the most important.

Also, when you do this, try not to fall into cliches (like some beach house in a love novel) or "what makes sense" just because "that is how it works in books". It is easy to look at our imagination and say "That would not work because..." What is important is what YOU want.

For me, my dream neighborhood is where I grew up. It is and was a very real place. Sounds dull but I have been wanting to "go home" for 20 years even though "home" is not the same way it once was. The big field by our apartment, the drug store that sold cheap candy, the alley where me and my friends used to kill ourselves on our bmx bikes... it will always be "home" and in dreams I can go there again.

well, back then, my life just didn't have much content. With middle school, though, and a potential girlfriend, I already have enough going on.

My dreams always seem to be set in a particular place, and I often come upon the same shops, streets, and trails in successive dreams. This makes lucid dreaming especially fun for me, when I can pull it off, because I know exactly where to go for different things. For example, I like to explore the recurring grocery store and 7/11 just to see the various items stocked there, or to taste the outlandish food/drinks that my dream has generated. I also enjoy flying through the city streets or wandering through the many mystifying landmarks that always seem to be present. As far as I can tell, this area is complete with a down-town, a suburb, a highway, a very very lengthy river, a mountain/forest area, a university, and many separate towns. As cool as it is that my dreams have this consistency, I have only been able to scrape the tip of the iceberg. However, I am ever more motivated to master lucid dreaming because of the nature of my dreams, as I think it would be infinitely rewarding.

For a looong time I had these specific dreams about certain places that drove me nuts for the longest time! They were not really lucid, but I would dream of these places almost every night.. I haven't had a dreams of these places in a while, though. Here is a Dream Journal Entry that I posted in my Dream Blog.. I will just paste it, because I don't feel like retyping it all.. Here is what it was:

"Same Places - They Have To Be A Reality
Whenever I dream it is mostly of these places.

WINDING ROADS - The roads are always winding confusing. One is in town surrounded by stores (which I go to a lot in my dreams) and stoplights and such, then if you go straight after the stoplights at the edge of town it will lead you down this straight road, and along side that road is nature, fields, and this one place that's a long, stretched store and looks like a long Farmfresh kind of. And next to it is this other white, farm-like building that I never really go into. Continue to go down the straight road (which is big) and you'll get to these back roads. They twist and turn so much and it's usually dark by the time I get there. And it is usually hard to control the car there. And those roads are CRAZY!!!

THE HOUSE WITH STAIRWAYS - There is this house that is almost like three houses in one. There are lots of doors and hidden rooms and lofts. There are three staircases but there is only two floors. The floor is hard and wooden and dusty. The whole place looks almost abandoned and dusty. Outside the only doors (three doors lead to outside) is a hill which goes on into the woodsy area. And on the side of the house is this long driveway.

WHERE THE BODIES ARE - There is this creek that I often go to in dreams with dead body's laying about here and there in the area. I always get a weird feeling when I am there. Like something isn't right. We usually make a tent and camp there for some reason. The water from the creek is usually muddy.

THE APARTMENT WE NEVER HAD - There is this apartment that I dream of often with white floors and there is this big window in the living room that stretches out about the length of the living room. And it's very fancy. Like something a rich person would live in. And it's usually surrounded by grass and it's at a dead end with a driveway.

THE WHITE ROAD - There is this long white, rocky, road and I usually walk down it. It's just a bunch of trees and woods near by that go on for miles. There are usually a lot of people walking down this road. It leads to a park on one end but I have never made it to the other end. I have ventured into the trees before and its just endless. It usually has something to do with Native Americans when I dream of that road."

End. Sorry if that didn't make much sense.. I have a REALLY hard time trying to explain things, even in my blogs.. A dream town or a "safe place" for dreaming is an awesome idea..
