Hi Hyu, could you please share more about the energy defense you used here? It would really help me out. Thanks a lot.

Hyu, I just made an account so I could comment this, but have you ever heard of Tulpa's? They are kind of people inside of your head that you can talk too and they have their own personalities. One can make them by talking to them inside your head, and eventually they start to answer back. Maybe this is what you have accidentally done with Yuya and others? have you ever tried talking with them in waking life?

"Usually his stories are about himself, and he exaggerates... a lot, I'm pretty sure he even makes stuff up on occasion."
      - it's funny that you say that he makes stuff up, aren't you really the one making stuff up?

Wow. I definitely see the resemblance to the Stanley Parable in so many ways.

I've experienced something somewhat similar, and I think this tutorial is brilliant! I agree with everything, for the most part.

Except for your point on Survival.
If I die in a persistent realm I can never go back to that realm.
I think this thought is toxic, and you can never go back to that realm because you expect to not be able to go back. If you establish in your dreams that you are uniquely powerful and can respawn back, then you can! I've had a very important DC die trying to save someone, which left me in shock, but in the next dream, he seemed fine again. He was recovering in a hospital like place, and someone just told me "he's back." I myself respawn too, and I've established that as "the law" in many of my "realms." I think doing something like this can be a workaround to believing that dying in a persistent realm can stop you from returning. Just pop up again and say "guess who's back!"

Also, I half agree with your point on making it "real." There is an advantage to that, like giving up some control for realism, feeling more engaged in the dream, etc. It's more exciting that way. But it comes at the cost of being tempted to create toxic laws (like the survival law above) to make things feel real. I dream with a mindset of not needing to believe that things are "real," while still getting all the benefits of realism. I might write a tutorial or a post on that one of these days... it bypasses a lot of mindsets that I feel are toxic while still getting the job done and offering a lot more flexibility.

I totally dig your autopilot walking technique though. I've probably done it without knowing, but now I'll actively try to do it. Brilliant! And all the stuff about "guiding your thoughts, but not consciously finishing the thought" is also genius. Because sometimes after finishing the thought, your brain likes to REALLY wrap it up by adding a "p.s. but what about >insert toxic thoughts here<"

Thanks for writing this wall of text!

"On second thought... maybe you should get that Unreal 4 license. Mess around with it a little you know?"

Ironically, this post from a while back makes me feel you have some major esp juju going on or something, as unreal4 is now free to mess around with. You should thank yourself, or future self, XD.

I love this dream so much!
Thank you for inviting me into your dreamworld!

I love that you got so close to my face! Pushing past those comfort barriers is one of my favourite things to do in dreams, and I think it stabilises the dream for me because it requires a lot of mindfulness to recognise that those insecurities are not relevant in that moment.

Wow, that water/mirror trick was amazing, I am impressed with my dream powers!

LOL @ our foot fetish conversation! That is hilarious!
Our awkward moments in your dreams are really cute! I bet I'm a lot more confident in your dreams than I am in waking life, I would probably be the nervous one outside of the dreamworld.

Thanks for posting that link to your notes too, it's really great how you lay out the conversation like that! I think I will try doing that from now on. =)

It's always so special to be featured in your DJ, thank you for thinking of me!
I hope you will show me the beach in my dreams soon, too. =)

I also loved that now I'm not the only one who has shown up in your DJ with white hair!

Is the tip about making yourself barefoot something you really do? Because it's a great idea... so simple and straightforward, but something I've not really thought of as a way of connecting with the dream. Do you always just make yourself barefoot upon becoming lucid?
Yes, it is something I try to do when I remember to properly stabilize the dream. (Which lately is not very often...)
It's something that Yuya recommended. I like it because it is something that is really easy to do.
Just like rubbing hands, it is something that you can do in pretty much any situation.
Ideally you would remain aware of how the ground feels throughout the entire dream, but that is not really something I have the attention span for.
And of course I don't actually take my shoes of, I just decide that I am barefoot, which seems to work well enough.

Your memory for dialogue is especially good. This is something I've worked on a lot and have gotten pretty good at, but I think you are several levels beyond me on this. Waking up fresh from the dream like that probably helps, but do you have any special tricks for keeping those details filed away after the dream? Alarms in particular have a way of rattling me sometimes and I can lose a few details.
I have lost entire dreams to alarms. It is so annoying when that happens.
To improve my recall (including dialogue) I keep a scribble DJ next to my bed.
Whenever I wake up, I try to replay any dreams I've had in my mind.
I then grab my scribble DJ and write down key words.
Basically I write down the bare minimum that I feel I'm going to need later, when I journal the dream properly.
I do all of this before getting out of bed. (or going back to sleep)
I uploaded the scribble DJ entry for this dream to give you a better idea of what that looks like:
      Click me

Besides that, I occasionally make a mental note when a DC says something interesting that I want to remember.
I found that this is a pretty powerful tool, as long as I don't use it too often within the same dream.

And for recurring DC's I know the way they phrase things, so I can often fill in small gaps, as long as I remember the overall conversation well enough.

Anyways, I'm beginning to ramble. I hope this helps!

Lol! That ending was hilarious! Congrats on the lucidity and meeting up with Dreamer!
      Thank you!

Ha, it's funny you mention The Stanley Parable, I've been watching playthroughs of it.

This is such an awesome dream. I absolutely love Portal, Mirror's Edge, The Stanley Parable, and games like that, so all of that in one is pretty amazing. Would've been really cool to have been lucid and do some free-running from the cops, or maybe kick some guard butt.

Yeah, I was so disappointed when I heard that facebook acquired Oculus.
I'm worried that they might turn what was initially a dedicated gaming device in to some sort of social-media compatible mess.
But I really want VR to happen, and I want to make games for it, so I haven't given up on the Rift just yet.

And so far I've only heard positive things about the DK2, and I'm super excited to get mine.
Who knows, maybe they won't mess it up, and the CV1 is going to be a better looking DK2 with slightly improved specs.

Super cool, and I'm glad that you soon turned your disappointment around and recognised the great opportunity!

I love your insights at the end! I can't wait to see the effect VR has on your dream content!

      Woooo, DK2!!!
