This is an older dream, perhaps a week old, that I forgot towrite down. I took some notes when I woke up so I’m pulling that dream from mymemory. I know I have forgotten some details.

I’m racing through Zilker Park as part of a competition, orreality show. I passed by a fat Asian boy holding a lollipop. He was smilingand walking in the rain, wearing shorts that were about ten sizes too small.

I came to the bridge at the entrance to Zilker Park andthere was water flowing over it, lots of water. The rain had created quite aflood, and the runoff was flowing onto the bridge and down through a cutout inthe side of the bridge designed as an outflow. As I approached it the waterturned to ice, not smooth like a sheet but mixture of crunchy ice, snow, andwater. I slipped and fell, and my wonderturned to fright as I slid towards the opening in the side of the bridge.

I must have got my footing at some point because stopped andgot up, peering over the side of the fall. I moved in slow motion to look overthe side, my view showing me exactly where I would have fallen to had I notstopped sliding.

The dream shifts and I am in north Austin, outside somestrip of office buildings. Two associates of mine (best word I have for them)had been waiting on my arrival. I had been delayed by driving the van throughrain and ice. They didn’t understand why I had such a big van and initiallymade fun of me, but I told them it was to help me move the drier and otherlarge pieces of furniture and appliances.

After I loaded up some big objects into the van I turnedback towards the two men, who remained near the building. I walked across theparking lot to the table they were sitting at. Their stares were bent on an oldtelevision, perhaps 30 years old with a 14” screen. The News was on, and thereporter was saying that Jack Black was dead, apparently from falling andslipping down an ice/water fall on Barton springs Road. I put my fingers to myface and remembered what had happened. I said, “I was there, and I think I wasthe last person to see Jack Black alive.” I shifted into a memory of standingon the bridge and watching Jack black approach me, happy and loud as he usuallyis. As he approached me he slipped and fell down the outflow, landing on asmall island of rock and ice in the creek below. I even watched him fall, freaking out as hewent over the edge, but I seemed to skip over the impact and he was just deadand lying on the ice.

At this point I was aware of the dream because I honestlywasn’t worried about Jack Black dying. I realized I never even bothered toreport it to anyone, and still wasn’t upset that it had happened. My memory shifted back to the table and thetwo men, and I told them what I remembered. No one ever seemed shocked.

I still did not report the death and left in the van. I wasdriving along a road in western Arkansas, a place I have never been in reallife. The trees are abundant on one side of the road, a fenced field on theother. My view is like a movie camera in a helicopter, an interestingperspective.

I traveled to a high school that looked nothing like the oneI went to. I’m in front of the school and many students were passing me. Iwalked to get onto a school bus, and for some reason my feet were not workingproperly, like I was partially crippled. Some kids asked me if I was O.K. and Ireplied I was, feeling happy that they were showing concern for me instead ofbullying me as I had feared they would. As I climbed up the same kids followedme onto the bus. I walked back a couple seats and found a place to sit. Iclimbed up onto the merry-go-round horse that I was supposed to sit on, usingthe back of another kid to boost me up. I had to get around a nearby baby toget to the animal-seat. Mounting the seat I began taking off my shoes, handingthem to a nearby boy who was reaching out his hand to help me. I thought, “Howpolite people are at this school, “and then I handed him my other shoe just asthe bus began to move.

I went to Amazon.com , a large building with slopinghillsides outside the entrance covered with a plant that had been carefully cutto a height of about 8 inches. I was standing outside the building on thesidewalk that ran along the perimeter drive of the parking lot usually reservedfor dropping off people at the entrance. I had a large plastic shopping bagwhich I was furiously stuffing small paperback copies of Isaac Asimov books intowith the intent of having them stored at Amazon. I stopped and debated with myselfabout putting all of them into storage, or whether I might want to keep someout for my own use.

    And the dream ended.
