Fights & Fail Videos At The Hilltop Festival (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I'm at an outdoor festival, Bob Dylan is playing while a large crowd sits on a hill in the sun. One of my friends has a ticket, but for those of us that don't, we're limited to the edges of the hill, along the path.

Dylan's not really my thing, so I go up the hill path to look for any of my friends. The path comes to an opening at the top of hill surrounded by hedges where drinks are served, and I find a few old school friends, as well as Emma, my uni flatmate.

A few of us push each other jokingly, angering someone behind us. He starts pushing a bit too hard so we start to confront him. Fortunately, he explains he was only taking the piss, and we realise we'd done what we'd accused him of doing - overreacting.

A large, unsightly gentleman later grabs Emma, pulling her towards him in a strange attempt at flirting. I see Emma's discomfort and, without thinking, I head butt him in the forehead. [Fighting in my dreams, I know, what a surprise]

He hits the floor instantly, and doesn't regain consciousness for a few minutes. Both his friends and mine are impressed as well all wait for him to get up, and I'm admittedly surprised at my own strength. I stand vigilant in case he attacks when he gets up.

He eventually gets up shakily and goes to sit down, telling me he's more impressed than angry. I apologise, telling him it's not usually like me, and we shake hands

Fail videos start appearing all around us, though out of thin air rather than on screens. These transition into rugby fails, and then into school rugby fails.

I'm then immediately in the middle of a year 7 school rugby match as my 11-year-old self. Everyone but me is playing pretty badly [our team was pretty awful at that age], and I take pleasure in making some big hits.

    2. My Album's In The Charts!

My Album's In The Charts! (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

This was a horribly disappointing dream to wake up from, albeit a bit ridiculous.

I'm with my dad who shows me that my new dream-inspired drum & bass track has made its way into the top 10 music downloads of this week. I'm amazed, not only because I'm nowhere near that standard yet, but because I haven't even released it! I wonder if someone's put it up for sale without me knowing.

I then notice the whole album is included in a multi-album compilation CD. My fears of copyright are massively dwarfed by my overwhelming sense of flattery.

My Dad Wants To Smoke Weed (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I'm with my dad, who rolls a joint, badly, and I have to tidy it up for him. I can tell he's new to it as he's overly eager for me to spark it, though I act cool and nonchalant. Though I don't know how my dad really feels about weed, the fact that it's illegal is enough for him.

A policeman comes to the window of our car, just as I manage to hide all the bits of weed scattered across my lap.

We never got round to sparking it

    4. The Bungee Accident

      The Bungee Accident (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I'm with my family, watching a man on a bike, suspended in the air by bungee rope. Each time he's flung into the air he does a trick on his bike, and each time he descends, he barely misses the ground. A highly unsafe practice.

Suddenly, I'm in his place, being launched high into the air, and narrowly missing the ground and the bungee supports on the way down.

After a while, however, I collide into the audience's platform, and hit my hand on a support on the way back up. I land in some nearby water, but cannot swim. Thankfully I'm saved by a woman.

Later, in a room with my family and some friends, I notice a staff member sitting a few metres from me. I explain what happened but I'm ignored, despite the severity (I can't actually feel my hand). Instead, he laughs, so I stand up to confront him.

We square off and I begin hitting him in the face. However, my punches are quite weak and he barely feels it.

      British Money! (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

Me, my mum and my sister all enter a corner shop to buy some food. Once we've taken our items to the counter I hand over a pile of coins with which to pay.

Unimpressed, the Swedish woman behind the counter asks about a particular coin, a 20p. After attempting to scan it in the barcode scanner she tells us she won't accept it, unsure of what it is.

'It's British Money!' I shout, suddenly agitated.

After arguing for a few minutes, I casually knock over an empty wine bottle as an intimidation tactic. She draws a knife and beckons me over to her.

Of course I know that would end with me being stabbed, so I refuse. A punch up starts, and I win easily.

We begin to leave with our shopping, but put it down by the door in case it sets off the alarm.

    6. A Bit Too Excited

      A Bit Too Excited (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I'm at my old school, walking around, when I see Eddie, an old friend. I get extremely excited as I haven't seen him in a while, and go up to say hi.

I say I try to greet him, a woman intersects us and hugs someone in front of us. We wait for them to finish, before she lives, smiling as if she took as long as possible on purpose.

With so much I want say, everything comes out at once - yet not in coherent sentences. I start new questions half way through the current one, and neither of us can get our words out properly. He jokes about me seeming like I'm on MD (a form of ecstasy). I laugh and wonder to myself if I actually am.

    7. Flying In A Futuristic City and other dreams

Flying In A Futuristic City (DILD)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I think this was my second lucid, but unfortunately it's relatively hazy due to my recent neglect of my dream journal. I do remember the immense pleasure, however.

I'm on my own in an empty, colourful, futuristic city, leaping of objects and buildings and flying. I spend a while playing with this new ability, though it fails me on occasion.

      Shooting Down Planes (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I'm in a Fallout 3-type setting with a crowd of armour-clad strangers. Me and a friend, new to the team, try and shoot down an enemy plane with a pistol and a sniper respectively.

We fail to bring it down and get mocked by the other, more experienced, soldiers.

Another plane arrives, and I notice it's an AC-130. We frantically shoot at it, knowing it is likely to destroy us, but nothing works. Huge explosive shots begin to land all around us, and the leader of our troupe suggests we use the two rocket launchers.

I volunteer instantly and take it down.

      12.06.2012
      Earthquake (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I'm driving to a hospital with my dad, and I tell him about my recent lucid (see above), yet he doesn't seem to care.

After parking on the top floor of a car park, an earthquake hits the building. The building shakes erratically for an unusually long time, and everyone panics.

Once the earthquake has passed I notice a woman who has managed to keep a 5ft stack of pub glasses standing throughout, which I find very impressive!
    8. Punch Up At A Concert

Punch Up At A Concert (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I'm at a concert, in a venue similar to one near my uni. Me and my friend Luke go back inside for the second half of the show.

There's a huge crowd, however, which makes it hard to get through the door. I make my way through the hordes of pushing audience members towards a few more of my friends.

In front of me is someone from my old school whom I never really liked, and for some reason he's repeatedly jabbing his elbows behind him.

I start a fight with him when he refuses to stop, knocking him to the floor. I then stop out of fear of being thrown out of the concert, but he knocks me down while I'm looking away.

I shout at him to give him a chance to stop, but he doesn't, so I calmly stand up, hand my glasses to the gentleman behind me, and KO the elbow-jabber.

I try to escape the venue when I hear sirens, but a female member of staff tells me there's no point.

Touched Up In A Club (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I'm in a converted church which has been turned into a club (similar to one we have at uni). I'm on a platform getting with a drunken friend of mine, in clear view of everyone.

She proceeds to put her hand on my crotch and I recoil briefly as I realise this once-innocent kiss is getting a bit out of hand! People laugh and cheers me on, however, so I let it continue.

Unfortunately, she soon realises everyone is watching, including our friends, and gets embarrassed. To save my skin I tell her I had no idea.

      Defending The Locals (Non-lucid)

      NON-DREAM DREAM LUCID

I'm in a foreign country, on top of a massively high bridge with my family and other tourists. Below us on a beach are several locals, mainly children.

Suddenly, men emerge from the various rock pools scattered over the beach and begin chasing and attacking the children.

Unfortunately, from so high up, we are all helpless to stop them. All we can do is watch in horror.

I then see a couple of small sharks chase a boy
(somehow on land) and I jump all the way down from the bridge just as they begin to bite his arm. I grab one and punch it repeatedly, until it no longer poses a threat.

    11. Injecting People at Gigs is Not On

by , 04-23-2012 at 09:47 PM (The Inner Workings of a Sound Addict)
Really good recall for my last dream of the night, but should have written my second down as soon as I woke up as it's only in fragments:

      ---

      22/4/12

All I remember is having to sing a Coldplay song with some uni friends to a large crowd on a beach. At some point during our performance, the song changes to a horribly cheesy 80s song, at which point I decided to wake myself up.

      ---

I'm driving around to various places, picking up things to pack in my suitcase for going away. At a particular friend's house I walk in on a house party, and I remember seeing a large table with Gameboys belonging to everyone there. I see mine, next to Pokemon Crystal, and pack both.

Later, while driving to the station with my mum, I invite a hitch hiker into the car. Only once we arrive does my mum notice, despite not being hidden, and worries that he could be dangerous. I assure her he's harmless, but he has to leave nonetheless.

      ---

The dream began as a transition from showing someone a Cannibal Corpse video on YouTube, to magically appearing in the middle of the mosh pit. Despite not liking Cannibal Corpse that much, I join in with the moshing, but see a girl get hit square in the face. I offer to take her to the toilet as she's got a nose bleed.

She explains that her nose ring has fallen out
[something which happened to a flatmate of mine recently] but is eager to get back into the pit [my kind of girl!]. Just as we arrive at the edge of the crowd, however, I see a dodgy-looking man injecting people in the back without them noticing.

Outraged, I run up to him and smash his last syringe on my hand
[thinking I can use the contents as evidence later].

      "You're gonna get shanked!"

he shouts as I run to find a security guard. When I do, he walks past in a guards uniform, trying to look inconspicuous. It doesn't work and he gets carted off to jail.

However, I'm told I need to go as well to fill out paperwork or whatever. This wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't made to be escorted by a friend of the jailed man.

In the car I am practically shitting myself, as the driver is twice as menacing as his friend that I just incarcerated. I almost apologise but suddenly feel a pain in my lower back, and wonder if I had been injected as well.

I'm later on a train, still with the driver, which turns into a holocaust simulation. We arrive at a stage, where a 15 year old starts a presentation about it.
The rest of the dream continues as me being at school, but is rather mundane, so I won't write it here.

    12. Cave Exploring and Job Hunting

by , 04-22-2012 at 09:12 PM (The Inner Workings of a Sound Addict)
Woke up this morning and stupidly didn't write down my dream before falling asleep again, causing me to forget most of it. It was a really interesting one as well! Unfortunately I only remember the less-interesting parts, but fortunately I remembered a second when I woke up again.

      ---

      22/4/12

All I remember is exploring a deep cave with three others, where we become trapped almost like the Chilean miners. When we finally find a way out, we learn that the whole thing was a test.

      ---

I'm in a smart suit and arrive at a big London building in search of a job. There are hordes of businessmen going in and out just like horrible swarms of ants and as I walk through the front door, my dad does too, which I had not expected.

We both walk through the ground floor room, which is busy and dirty like a cheap market. My dad enters a meeting on the first floor, and I continue alone up the stairs to find a job. The stairs seem endless, like a tower, and I check every room for potential work. However, all the rooms are empty and I figure I must be at least an hour early.

Briefly and faintly, I hear someone having sex, and almost check the bedrooms near the top of the tower, before suppressing my perverted curiosity. At the very top of the stairs, I find a blacksmith's forge. I begin to hammer the anvil a few times, but am swiftly told that this isn't my job, and shooed out of the room.

On the way back down I discover a shop that was definitely not there before, and I talk to the various people inside, Oblivion style. An old man gives me a phoenix feather, and I immediately realise its value and rarity. He tells me now that I have one, I will be able to find many more in my travels.

After this completely irrelevant digression, I find the shop owner: a stout, short-haired woman who seems to be in a rush. She notices that I'm wearing an employee uniform and a 'my name is ...' sticker
[which I hadn't had before] and tells me to continue with my work while she goes on holiday for a few weeks.

Sweating from climbing the hundreds of stairs, I open some window, before noticing some friends. One has an unusually large bifro, making him look like a member of The Mars Volta. Their song 'The Widow' then blasts through the overhead speakers, and we rock the fuck out to it.

    13. Bye Bye Laptop

by , 04-20-2012 at 02:12 PM (The Inner Workings of a Sound Addict)
No recall the last two nights, unfortunately, but it was my own fault. Tried to WILD last night but could not keep myself awake long enough. Did remember a small clip though:

      ---

      19/4/12
      VITAMIN B6

I'm in some sort of cottage with some friends. We think the house might have been broken into, but after checking round, we decide it's all clear. All of us go out, with exception of one who stays behind. Not long after we leave, we get a call from him, saying he left the door unlocked and someone might be inside the house.

As we journey back to the house everyone thinks about which valuables they might have had stolen, but I'm safe in the knowledge that my expensive macbook is chained to the wall.

Once back, I enter the house with my dad, and suddenly realise I had taken my laptop off the chain very briefly recently. As I suspect, it's gone. I start shouting in anger, but it's my dad that flies into a huge unnecessary rage.

Once I've calmed down I half wake up, realising it was just a dream, before then waking up for real.

    14. Sister's News

by , 04-17-2012 at 08:03 PM (The Inner Workings of a Sound Addict)
Sub-par recall last night, but oh well.

      ---

      16/4/12

I'm in the kitchen at home, and my mum asks whether I've heard my sister's news. Somehow, I immediately guess that's she's written an album [despite being completely unmusical in real life]. I get played it, and it's in a contemporary jazz style, with vocals by Jamie Cullum, my mum's favourite artist.

I'm pretty jealous, seeing as music's my 'thing' and I've been working on it for a lot longer, and almost ask how much of the album she actually wrote
[it was almost definitely 100% Jamie Cullum's music].

    15. Saints Row Driving, General Flirting and the Unanswerable Maths Question

by , 04-16-2012 at 04:22 PM (The Inner Workings of a Sound Addict)
My first night after trying out vitamin B6, though I think I took it at the wrong time, at about 8pm, at least 5 hours before I actually went to bed. Seems like it worked pretty well though, as I remembered 3 dreams pretty clearly. The first was exceptionally vivid.

      ---

      15/4/12
      VITAMIN B6

I'm sitting in someone's uni kitchen, with a large group of friends, all with covers watching a film and talking. A girl a few flats from me comes in, and I offer her the space next to me on the sofa, as I've started to like her quite a bit.

Within minutes, she starts to touch my leg at exactly the same time as I start to touch hers. She starts to talk about seeing people she 'likes' in dreams, though whispering the majority to me. For some reason, I tell her I don't see people I like in my dreams because they intimidate me...

      ---

I'm playing Saints Row 2 in first person, driving relatively safely with a flatmate of mine, on the way to a mission. He mocks my driving to which I reply

"Just in case we get a driving level, I like this car"
      "Do you?" he asks
      "Yeah!"

In the heat of the discussion, I accidentally drive into an activity activator
[which fans of the game will know stops the car dead]. Unlikely in the game, however, this causes me to shoot through the windscreen. Unharmed, but disgruntled, I get back in the car, shouting

"Why the fuck does it do that?!"

As part of the activity, we gain one star of police notoriety, and helicopters arrive. I can't be bothered with this right now, so I exit the activity from a drop-down menu that appears in front of me.

We set off, now driving a Bear, but a bug causes a rogue police car to chase and shoot a nearby innocent driver. More cars get involved, and we all drive through a rocky tunnel to a dead end. I get out, letting the police and innocent drivers sort it out between themselves.

I proceed to slip through a crack in the wall to the starts of the mission, where I find a gangster with a shit-load of futuristic equipment. A woman asks me if I've just come from Guildford
[a town near where I live] like most of the other people here, for a girls birthday. A girl named Georgie C. My blood boils at hearing that name, and it takes all the strength I have to ask the woman how she knows her [checking they're not related or friends] before I describe how much I loathe that girl. She's a bitch basically, and gave my sister a really hard time a few years ago.

      ---

I'm given a few questions on paper, which turn into a huge maths problem. I start to write out all the information given so that I can try to solve it, but it soon begins to seem like it's unanswerable.

"Fuck that!" I think, and turn over in bed, ending the dream.
