    Dreamland: Help Wrapping

    by , 12-26-2011 at 01:32 PM (946 Views)
Dream #1: My GF and I were leaving my house. We were sitting in my car in the drive way and she had presents for everyone. She told me that she still needed to wrap more, and wanted to put a red ribbon on some of them. I looked around my block and noticed most of the houses had long bright red ribbons out front. I had the "brillant" idea: "Why don't we let my next door neighbor wrap your presents!" (In real life I've done nothing but exchange awkward waves with him.)

Stationed in his driveway was a heavy looking sewing machine from the 50's, for some reason I felt it could be of use (with the ribbons?)...

Note: My next door neighbor has not taken down his Christmas tree since he put it up before Christmas 2010. I have joked about this a number of times with my GF, and I have lucidly entered his house at least once (see Blackbird Flying. I also caught a reflection of myself in his front window in the lucid dream: Cloud Form)

Dream #2: I was laying in bed when Fred walked over and laid down in my usual spot. He told me he had been working hard on the computer and his neck was hurting. So he needed to lay down in a special way using my pillow.

Note: This is the second dream I have recalled in which Fred was in my bedroom as if he lived here. I also recently posted a dream in which I was in his and Katie's room (Stealing Mexican Food)

This is a funny dream in light of your relationship with your neighbor. Is that the main reason you logged it?

I laughed out loud when I woke up.

These two seemingly throw away dream fragments contain links to past dreams. I want to reinforce these images as: dream signs and record them under the "dreamland" label - because I was in a neighborhood lucid dream when I recalled in great detail a number of other neighborhood dreams.

Unfortunately, so far, that was a one time event that I didn't document very well. At the time I was more interested in special effects-y lucid powers, than access to my subconscious dream history... Heh.

I can see the logic in linking to previous dreams that fit a pattern, but I'm interested in knowing what you are getting at. I likely agree with your point; I'm just too lazy to link my dreams. I could start though. Parts of my dreams, or aspects of my dreams tend to repeat.

      Let me know.

Here is the theory: that we can (potentially) recall more dreams while we are lucid dreaming than while we are awake.

The goal I'm attempting to inch towards again is to recall past (similar) dreams while dreaming. -Then wake up to record them.

It's (of course) possible to have false dream memories, however, I believe that we do clearly remember core elements of past dreams if our current dreams are based on them. Right? It follows that on some level, we must access subconscious dream content.

At the very least, I think it's ideal to link the dreams that occur in (old) reoccurring locations. Childhood home, house we lived in the longest, etc. I also have the hope that some dream character (from childhood) might be coaxed into acting as a mouthpiece to those memories.

So far, I haven't been lucid enough to prod Fred, Katie, my cousins, or any other reoccurring dream characters to help. I did however document one dream in which I vividly recalled a dream from earlier in the night: Gunslingers & Ghosts

Interesting. Tell me if I understand you correctly. You want to remember dreams that you have forgotten. To do this, you want to conjure, or otherwise interact with DC's who can help you recollect those old dream memories. With that being your goal, the DC's would likely be past DC's, or relatives in waking life.

Furthermore, you want to link dreams that you can tie together as this is something you have some control over if only by chance, whereas your farther-reaching goal is not as easily achieved.

      Does that sound about right?

You got it. A very good summary. I want to emphasize: the dream locations seem more important - as I have not made much progress with DC's. In the dream that inspired this goal... the flood of dream memories was inspired by a reoccurring location.
