    Magic Box

    *************************************
I will put in the box

the swish of a silk sari on a summer night,
fire from the nostrils of a Chinese dragon,
the tip of a tongue touching a tooth.

I will put in the box

a snowman with a rumbling belly
a sip of the bluest water from Lake Lucerene,
a leaping spark from an electric fish.

I will put into the box

three violet wishes spoken in Gujarati,
the last joke of an ancient uncle,
and the first smile of a baby.

I will put into the box

a fifth season and a black sun,
    a cowboy on a broomstick
and a witch on a white horse.

My box is fashioned from ice and gold and steel,
with stars on the lid and secrets in the corners.
Its hinges are the toe joints of dinosaurs.

I shall surf in my box
on the great high-rolling breakers of the wild Atlantic,
then wash ashore on a yellow beach
    the colour of the sun.

    1. Non-lucid Dragon Dream

by , 07-11-2012 at 02:59 PM (Magic Box)
I woke up to the sound of screaming people outside my house. I got up and rushed out the door to see what the commotion was all about. There were many people on the streets, all of them riding blue Vespa-looking motorcycles. They all seemed to be running away from something. I looked up, and immediately saw a large purple dragon with very very small wings circling overhead. I thought, "Oh cool, a dragon. Why does it have such small wings?"

I'm not quite sure what happened, or how it happened, but apparently, I became the dragon. My body felt very heavy, and my arms (or wings) felt painful. I looked down and saw all the people in the blue motorcycles running away from me.

I didn't know exactly how to fly, so I started plummeting towards the people down below. I tried to tell them that it's me and I won't hurt them, but nothing came out of my mouth, except a misty and warm fog (and yes I really felt the warmth!)

Not sure what happened afterwards. I don't remember ever hitting the ground.
