In a lucid dream, but still no control

Right im new to this but its the 3rd time i cracked into Lucid dreaming, the first time i woke up straight away, the second time, i thought i was in someone elses dream and i was teachin them to lucid dream haha, crazy i know

but then last night i actually was aware i was in a lucid dream, i cant fully remember the seen but i remember being in some overpopulated hostel, and someone chasing me with a knife, and i just stopped looked back and tried to fire a fireball at him, but nothing happened i tried again, still nothing, then i tried turning his knife into a plie of flowers failed at dat too, so i just ran away
I manage to get away, and believe it or not, i went on to a forum like this in my dream to post a thread on what to do

then someone sit beside me and said your dreaming, you need to say "im lucid dreaming, and im in control" just then i remember just falling slowly away hanging off something, cant remember exactly, and just felt really dizzy, but had to snap out of it

cause in my dream i thought i was going to fall out of my bed, (and my bed is high enough to break ya neck)

so i just all of a sudden was in my bed, thought i had woken i got up and told everyone about the lucid dream i had, whilst unaware i was still dreaming, some1 stole my Fathers car, then i really woke up

sorry for the long story i just want to know why didn't i have control, i tried everything, from pushing, thinking and believing, but nothing

is it abit too early for me to try and fire projectiles or what, any comment is appreciated thanks.

Oh that happens, control can fail in lucids so its normal. Though you could have tried other stuff besides fireballs, if one thing fails you, try another one!

It just takes time, I've had 6 lucid dreams and I still have no control.

I'll move it to control for you

But also, sometimes if you can't manage to accomplish things on your own accord, all it takes is thinking, "There will be a gun behind me" or whatever it is you need... sometimes placing your controlling needs in other objects gets the job done

Focus your attention on exactly what you want to control. Everything requires your attention to exist, the more attention you give it the more detail it will give to that aspect. It might also help to swing your arm around like your going to throw a ball or something. I've had a couple fail fireball attempts in lucids. But since I've been applying that attention thing my control has been getting alot better. Last night I used it to posess a dream charater (cashier at 711)

I've managed to make a few things explode (like all the windows on a skyscraper ) but that's about it...
