      Conquring fear

I haven't been here in a while but i'm back into lucid dreaming now, last night i had entered sp3 times. None of the times in which i recognized that i was dreaming when i entered the dream.

No i had an opportunity to do some fun things in my dream this morning but fear stopped me. How do you prevent fear from stopping you from doing things that you want to do in your lucids? I knew the dream was a dream where i had the fear, i just let fear overtake me for some reason.

How do you prevent fear from stopping you from doing things that you want to do in waking life? Sometimes you just have to take the fear in stride and keep going. Remember, fear is a basic instinct designed to keep or get you out of dangerous situations. Although we still have this instinct, we can tell when it's save to overstep it, and at that point it's nothing more than an instinctual reaction which is in that case unecesarry and thus irrelevant.

I don't know if this helps, but one of my favorite quotes goes something like this:

"Courage is not the absence of fear but the conviction that something is more important than fear."

It gets less frightening as you get more lucids. Sooner or later you'll have a lucid in which you don't think twice about going to do things. But sometimes, even with lots of lucid dreams, you just get a "premonition" and you stop in your tracks; it happens to me too, sometimes.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Why lose the fear? I like to experience all kind of feelings in dreams, find its much more exciting to just jump and attempt to fight the fear, regardless of the outcome.

Well last night I had a dream in which I had no fears at all. Or at least nothing that I normally fear in real life. In the lucid part of the dream I passed by a clown and just looked at him oh cool a clown. in real life I am terrified of clowns but it didnt affect me at all in the dream. later in the dream in a non lucid portion I was holding a ziplock bag of snakes and I wouldnt say i am really afraid of snakes but some in the bag were poisonous but I was handling them without fear.

My fear turned itself off without me trying. Now I wish it would do that in real life
I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.

That's pretty cool. I've had something like that happen to me, too. So far, I've had two different dreams in which I've seen something I've always been afraid of in real life. Both times, I faced whatever it was and got over being afraid of it (though I was only lucid for one of those times).

well I am still afraid of clowns because just the thought of clowns makes me shiver. but in the dream I didnt remember that i was afraid of clowns I guess. and later in the non lucid part of the same dream I didnt remember that snakes can be incredibly dangerous
