It's happened a couple of times for me, I just put it down to being more aware during the day, and thinking about lucidity more in general. |

Hi guys, this is my first post, even though I've been around for a long time now. I have a history with sporadic DILDs, and as their frequency has increased lately, I've noticed that I gain awareness in a way I've never seen anyone mention around here. |

Ooh, their breath is warm
And they smell like sleep
And they say they take me home
Like poppies heavy with seed
They take me deeper and deeper
most of my lucids are like that I'm just aware enough to realize it on my own. But its always safe to reality check anyways just to make sure :p |

" The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven "
This allways happends to me when I become lucid |
|
agreed with isthisit about the causes. thank you guys for answering/ glad it's not just me. this is the only 'technique' that i've ever succeeded at, and it's the most unreliable of all. lucky me! |

This type of awareness is what we try to teach in the DVA Intro Class, it's the best way to increase DILDs. Nice job with finding it on your own! |

The best reason for having dreams is that in dreams no reasons are necessary.
No sailor controls the sea. Only a foolish sailor would say such a thing. Similarly, no lucid dreamer controls the dream.
Like a sailor on the sea, we lucid dreamers direct our perceptual awareness within the larger state of dreaming.
I have the same experience, the only difference is I became lucid from the waking state, so automatically I know that I'm in the dream world, and began to explore around. |
|
Yes, but that's WILD. Must be cool. I seem incapable of lucid dreaming through any technique at all. |
|
I think I do the same thing!! I have tried all other techniques but the only way I've became lucid is literally just being aware. At the beginnings I have my real life personality and thoughts and as the dream progresses I just become more and more aware until I realize I am dream. Not once have I ever seen something strange and been like "Oh hey I'm dreaming" or randomly reality checked. I do reality check after I become lucid to solidify my consciousness though, but i feel incapable as well. |
|
That's so cool, dude. We should keep in touch, compare notes, and all. |
|
I always lucid dream without these stabilization medhods. |
|
I had my longest LD around two weeks ago too, and have been in the business for around two years. I kept losing the dream, but then going back to the same setting and therefore recognizing it all over again. In the end, I lost it to a false awakening. The only way out of false awakenings is hardcore reality checking. I think the biggest problem with this all is its frequency, you never know when you'll randomly realize it again. |
|
I had this for the first time a few days ago, it was cool |

Yes! This is exactly how basically every single one of my lucid dreams start. It's bizarre. I do reality checks all day and spend a lot of time repeating "I will have a lucid dream tonight," in my head, and before bed each night, for 5 minutes I stare at my hands and repeatedly say, "Tonight while I'm dreaming, I'll see my hands and realize I'm dreaming." Yet none of these things actually trigger the lucidity, it comes exactly like you said, just suddenly snapping into lucidity. Weirder still is that most of the time, when I become lucid, circumstances are really very normal and not bizarre at all, whereas I'll have completely bizarre dreams with heads up displays and video game aspects that I somehow never realize are dreams until afterwards. |
|
Maybe your head has been clearer/you have been more relaxed during those dreams, and that's all lucidity needs. |
|
That's true and makes so much sense! Whenever I have crazy insane dreams I am thinking crazy insane thoughts, which probably sends my subconscious into over drive to make me believe everything is real. But when I am having my normal dreams, where nothing strange is happening I feel like my awareness is able to feel out the situation and be like "Hey... this isn't really normal." Now if only we could find away to create this experience on purpose haha |
|
The exact same thing is happening to me. On boring/normal dreams i think "hey i am dreaming!". On the most random dreams however i just follow the plot and feel like an idiot for not realising it when i wake up. |
