      The Dream Base?

I've seen this topic come up a couple of times before, but I never really got a chance to really get engaged in the discussion, and I want to know what other lucid dreamers think of it.

First of all, I just want to say, got this idea a very long time ago, looking around the forum and saw somebody's post on the exact same thing; building a dream base. I never really read the post. It kind of sat in the back of my head for awhile, until a few months later I made it a part of my loose list of dream goals.
My first major question is does having a dream base work? Has anyone else done it? Are you able to return to your base? Most importantly, does building one help you to achieve lucidity more often?
I know from experience that you can never return to a location across dreams (or even within the same dream) and have it be 100% exactly the same. But if you dream that you're in school or at home, and the dream is 99% accurate to what that place looks like in real life. This accuracy can happen across multiple dreams. Then, logically, you could go to a made up place that would be 99% accurate every time you go there in a dream.
In other words, you could have a dream base, and It would be very similar every time you visited it, but never be exactly the same.
But does it work with a place that's entirely imaginary? More importantly, does having a dream base really increase your ability to dream. Could you use a technique like MILD to easily land in your base and have lucid dreams more easily and more often?

Anyways, I've already tried twice to build a base. Though it occurred to me that I could draw and plan out my base in real life, then it would be ready for me when I started lucid dreaming.

I think that regardless of the actual viability of a long term dream base, this is a great exercise!

The reason is, that I think it will put a goal in your head to concentrate on dream recall even more, and strengthened dream recall is really key to productive LDing. Another idea might be to draw out a design in real life, then when you actually build part or all of a base in your dream and wake up, make sure to mark what you've done in the dream on your real life paper. That way you're reinforcing what you've done in the dream, which may make it easier to pull up that image of the dream base during your next LD. The drawing could become a log of the work you've done in dream on the base!

Anyway, best of luck with it.

Great question! I want to know the answer as well. There is another great thread that was just started here. Its about not only creating a base, but an entire REALM that the dreamer could hopefully adventure in whenever lucid.

      Check it out for ideas!

We have a member (I can't remember his/her name) that had a tutorial regarding persistent worlds, which I'd guess it's the same as a dream base. He/she would just travel to the place without any problems (planets mostly), and had loads of tips on how to create and revisit said environments. I'll post here if I can find that member's DJ.

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

I don't know how well-known tulpae are around here (although we do have a tulpa subforum, so I'm assuming some people here know), but tulpa hosts typically have what's called a "wonderland", which is essentially a persistent imagined world. The main difference between a wonderland and a dream base would be that the wonderland is accessed while awake (through daydreaming, not lucid dreaming). One of my LD goals is actually to enter my wonderland in a lucid dream, which I'm sure is possible with enough skill and/or luck with LDing.

I suppose a paracosm is also very similar.

Because of these similarities, I think it might even be easier to develop a dream base if you create a basic dream base while awake. Sketch out some ideas if you want, map it out, etc., but also spend some time daydreaming, imagining yourself there, to help you really get a feel for how it should look. Of course, the purpose of this is to create it while lucid dreaming, but I'm sure it would help to at least create a basic foundation for it while awake and then add more details and things to it when you enter there in your dreams.

I'm definitely interested in drawing out my own city and entering it through a WILD. Can't believe I haven't thought of that before.

I think i know who your talking about, i also mentioned him in another thread yesterday. was his name Hyu?

For the OP, To me i think creating a base world/place would help greatly, but not if its a everyday place in the waking world you know? you have to make it as unique as you, being as creative as you can otherwise it'll decrease the chances of being lucid. it can also be as simple as being from a game or movie.

Ha, I just started another thread about this. Reminds me of a cross between Sim City, Inception and Minecraft. What reason would you have for doing it other than the novelty of doing it and increasing dream control and recall? What would excite you most about having your own permanent place? I think for me the idea of having my own sanctuary that I could expand infinitely and which I could map out in waking life is pretty exciting.

Well there's a few of us who do the dream army (Link is in my sig I think...), and to join you have to find the hq, that can be revisited. Of course, it looks different to everyone else, but we have different missions to do, and you can go back to the HQ at any time. I'm not sure whether it increases lucidity, but surely if you see somewhere you have already been in a dream, or somewhere that seems similar, you could do a RC and become lucid? But that might be just based on awareness of your location. Anyhow, if you're interested, check out the dream army. You might find it easy if you have other people supporting you.

The user that others have been referring to IS Hyu. His Dream Journal is a great read and I would recommend it to anyone. It's a great way to motivate yourself.

He has written about something he calls Persistent Realms, here is the post:
