      Can't Summon / Control Fire

So had another lucid dream last night.

Like many of my previous lucid dreams, I have attempted to summon fire and control it (Last Air bender Style). Once again, I can't get more than a little fizzle in or around my hands. I am not sure what is causing the blockage in mind. In most of my dreams flying is not a problem, but more advanced techniques such as summoning, telekinesis or basically anything involving control outside of my dream body seems very difficult.

I could feel the energy flowing through my dream body, but converting to fire just wasn't working. I tried making the arm wavy movements or making fire noises, and I felt I had strong lucidity so belief that I can do it doesn't seem like the problem either.

My partner has suggested I try using a dream lighter first to get the fire started, which seems like an excellent work around to understand fire.

Does anyone else have any tips or suggestions, or is there something that you struggled with for a long time and are now able to make it work?

They say dreaming is dead, no one does it anymore.
It's not dead it's just that it's been forgotten, removed from our language.
Nobody teaches it so nobody knows it exists.
The dreamer is banished to obscurity.
Well, I'm trying to change all that, and I hope you are too.
      By dreaming, every day.

You do say you could feel energy moving so this may not be helpful. However, look in the Dream Yoga class and read up on the visualization stuff and energy flow stuff. The better you get at creating these sensations while awake the better you will be at control in a dream. I would say use the energy movement one to feel large amounts of energy flowing. I can now visualize things tactilely that are not part of my body so I would "feel" the fire form. I would also use the same skill that allows me to see say a triangle in my waking mind and "see" a triangle shape form in my hand. I would then use my memory of watching a real fire (go do this while thinking about lucid dreaming) to cause a mental image of fire. If it did not appear I would refuse to allow the thought of it not working to form (see lesson on suppressing thought). I would know that it had formed (despite the visuals not showing it) and would be proud and happy with how well it had formed (even though the visuals did not form.) I may go as far as to enjoy throwing fireballs or flaring the flames (which so far have not formed but damn if I am going to allow that thought.) Using this sequence I will be able to do most any dream control. It involves practicing some skills while awake but is well worth it. For me the time between it not appearing, me fooling myself, and it actually appearing is negligible. Meaning if you were able to watch the dream you would just see me summon fire and would not know the amount of mental stuff that went into it.

Have you ever tried driving fire control out of emotion? Like for example anger? A lot of it seems based on what you expect and believe will happen. If you expect that you are on fire then you are on fire. Dream control takes time. You got this, Ametam!

Try saturating your mind with fire related images and videos that come close to the control you like to exercise. Watch them frequently and do short visualization sessions throughout the day. Doing this before going to sleep may also incubate non-lucid dreams where you find yourself effortlessly fire bending and this can then be more easily picked up in lucid ones .

If you want to dream about something specific, convince yourself that it's already happening during the dream.

For example, if you want to dream about wearing pants with pockets, during the dream, convince yourself that this is already happening. You could also similarly convince yourself that a specific pocket-sized object is already in your pant pocket for you to pull out and see. If you can convince yourself that specific things can appear in your pants pocket at your will that can help convince you that specific things can appear elsewhere at your will.

On top of all those excellent suggestions, Ametam, here's another:

Why not re-watch the Avatar episodes where Ang learns to firebend, and heed/memorize the instructions he was given? If I can remember, they were pretty good, and might be just what you need to create just the right circumstance and imagery you're looking for in the dream.

I wonder if this trick can be used for non-lucid incubation too.

When you are working with telekinesis, or with anything. It takes time. Start small, levitating a pen, roll a roll of tape. I know some people who try this may or not be super great at visualizing things but, if you visualize that you have an invisible string on the object then that may help. For me: that act of rocking the roll of tape helped me gain some confidence and the more I did it. It was easier to do.

With fire or all things elements. Have also done the whole, "Thor" thing too. Thor is not the god of the hammer, he is the god of thunder. You have the strength within you to do it. You could also try to harness the power until you get comfortable with doing it on your own.
