Question My dreams fade when I get excited.

Whenever I get excited, my dreams begin to fade. For example, when I try to fly, the dream starts to disappear. I've been lucid a handful of times, but my dream stabilization hasn't been too good. Are there any good techniques for dream stabilization in this instance?

“ It's mostly down to inexperience. Beginners have little to no understanding of how to stay lucid - which actually means staying focused on the thought: "I am dreaming."

A lot of inexperienced lucid dreamers want to rush into the dream and start doing things very quickly fearing that the dream will end. Your mind is racing, and your thoughts start tripping over one another...you wake up. Stop. Relax. Focus. Know that you do not need to rush because you have plenty of time. If you think that you need to rush because you could wake up at any second, you will...instead you want to firmly believe that you have plenty of time because you are in control of the dream.

When you have a grounded, confident, focused frame of mind, it allows you to have a more stable base to start your lucid dream. This will also result in more dream control and more clarity.

      Hope that helps

I agree with Bricksnake, staying calm, grounded, focused on "I'm dreaming" or "this a dream" etc... What has worked for me is staring at my hands often, once lucid. Rubbing the hands together has been the most reliable to me. I noticed also spinning with my arms open is a bit harder, if I spin too fast, while lucid I jump to another lucid or non-lucid dream.

Also very important is to move from one object to another, once it starts to change its form or shape.

You can try to implant yourself into the dream. Clap your hands, stomp your feet, touch the ground, yell or sing out loud, keep repeating your mantra or your plan...

Practicing your lucid plan may sound silly. But it helps you remember what you wanted to do once you become lucid. Then you don't have to waste time thinking about what to do. You will automatically remember. So stand up in your room in your favorite flying position, pretend to look at the ground, or chase an airplane knowing, that the dream will continue.

Don't worry about how long your dream is. The more you think it will be short, the more you will be in the rush. It is your dream, it will end when YOU say so.

It could also be just a phase. I used to have super short dreams lasting just seconds, with a few 1-2 min long ones. Then I had a phase of super long WILD chains lasting around 2 hrs.

      happy dreams : )
