      Pain in an LD

Does anyone else ever experience pain in their LDs? There is so much I want to do, but for some reason I keep getting hurt whenever I try something, and it hurts just as much as it would in the real world.

For example, last night I tried jumping off of something about six feet high, but I landed hard on metal tubing, with one foot scraping the end of it, and it hurt very badly. I've also had a dream where I tried to fly by taking a running head start, failed, landed on my knees, and skidded hard on the carpet. I got huge brushburns.

Does anyone else experience this and is there a way to make it stop?

I've always wondered if anyone felt pain haha. Though I'm glad I'm not the sucker who has to experience it.
Nothing ever hurts me in my dreams.
I don't know much about the topic but my advice would be to just imagine yourself invincible.

I'll try that next time I have an LD. The invincible me! I think I'm just not confident enough. I should practice.

ive felt pain, not all of the time but it has happened to me.
All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.

Hmm, someone else. Have you found a way of dealing with it?

I only experienced pain once in my lucid, i hit my head against something hard and it caused a bruise, but since that i haven't felt pain. I think that in order to feel no pain in your dreams, you have to think of yourself as invinscible, you have to think that you can't feel pain and nothing can hurt you, you have to really believe that in your dreams. That's what i did in this one lucid i had several months back, I was in the kitchen and there was this guy standing outside of the kitchen window with a gun and i was looking at him and he started shooting. I felt the bullets go right through me but i was just standing there looking at him, then i went into the living room and there were these people there and someone outside starting shooting through the house and everybody ducked except me, i just stood there thinking that they can't hurt me, its just a dream. But the one thing that i have to get over in some of my dreams is fear, that's my biggest weakness in dreams. This one woman was chasing me with a gun and i just kept running, so you may have a fear of getting hurt in dreams, i don't know. I think if you have fear in dreams of getting hurt, then you will get hurt in your dreams, you have to be brave and have courage and think to yourself that nothing in your dreams can hurt you, hopefully this will work for you.

The only thing I feel in dreams that is even remotely close to pain is pressure. If someone were to grab my arm and squeeze it vigorously, I'd keep the pressure, but it wouldn't actually be painful. Leaps and falls that would normally tear me to pieces result in little more than a heavy footfall.

Kinda convenient, since at times my dreams get a little... ah... violent.

Just ignore the pain and focus on something else. It can't really affect you like RL pain would if you don't let it.

Being naturally invulnerable in your lucids is always nice, but you'll still feel pain from time to time. The trick is to pay it as little attention as possible.

I can feel pain if I'm focusing on it. Normally, I will just feel a discomfort and label it "pain." It feels nothing like real, intense pain in the real world.

For me, I find I feel the pain int he same way I would, but my personality in real life is always trying to suck it all up and take it in. I just let every ounce of pain I get try and not affect me all the time, so in my dreams, I feel it as it is, it just doens't give me the same amount of suffering.

It's like the same sensation, but without that instinctive "TTHIS IS BAD" reaction.

yeah this has happened to me on a number of occasions. unfortunately i haven't really found a way to stop the pain. the only thing i have been able to do is give myself regenerative abilites so it only lasts a second or two.

While in a lucid dream your brain sort of simulates the experiences your having. I guess you could feel pain if you really wanted to

Although, once I was stabbed in a dream. I felt the knife going into me with force but I didn't feel any pain.

Why not just set yourself on fire and give people hugs?

I fell off a roof trying a flying backflip last night and I don't remember it hurting.

In my dreams my all senses are very sharp and real, but like anything else with focus I can remove pain. I just love the sense of touch so I usually concentrate on that
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

Only time I ever felt pain was when I jumped off my balcony in an attempt to fly. Didn't hurt that much, just a mild discomfort. (Flying part failed, of course.)

I've felt pain before in an LD. The way I deal with it is by, keeping my mind of off the pain or focusing on something else.

That's everything you need to know about pain. It applies not only to pain, but to everything in your dreams.

Recently I had a dream that turned into an LD. I was bitten by an emu and it really hurt.

Everyone says focusing on pain, but pain just keeps taking me by surprise. No one told me there was a spike under that bed! *grumbles to self* I haven't had an LD for awhile, but next time I do I will try some pain inducing things. Like the fire.

By the way, I'm not trying to have pain in a dream, it just happens. Like in real life, when you suddenly whack against something. Like that.

Yes I have felt pain in my dreams. My LD are still too short for anything to happen but they increase in lenth about 1 sec per time I have one. When I fell pain in a dream it fells like pressure that is uncomfortable and stangly diffrent. It could be from the fact that I have NF1.
