Hold on can the fox website be hacked or not and why? What are your sources of info? (It's just like school!)
"For a long time it gave me nightmares, having to witness an injustice like that. It was a constant reminder of how unfair this world can be, I can still hear them taunting him. 'Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!'... How come they just couldn't give him some cereal?"

Lol, do you have any idea how much redundancy and fault tolerance big corporations have for their networks? It would be completely impossible for a a renegade group of hackers to cause any irreversible damage.

      Just like Sony, huh?

Of course all damage is reversible, just wipe your computers clean and start again. So that is irrelevant.

I would like to see it, but what will Fox News do about it? Turn the story around "These hackers are part of the numbskulls at OWS who don't understand how America works."

It's not going to do anything to convince Fox News watchers otherwise.

Yeah, but at least they won't have their daily misinformation to get angry about and parrot off to everybody. Maybe they will see how brainwashed they are (unlikely, but MAYBE, HOPEFULLY). Since they may start watching another news channel, or just do some introspection.

Either way, at least their misinformation won't be getting to a large percentage of their viewers.

Facebook's one thing, take that down, millions of young whores cry because they can't play farmville... then go back to texting.

But getting rid of Faux News would be the greatest achievement ever.
      I Certainly hope they do.

Unfortunately, it's probably going to be a bunch of script-kiddies revving up their (fryers) LOICs (Low-Orbit-Ion-Cannons, Search it up.).

There's still always a glimmer of hope.

I think it's pretty clever that it's on Guy Fawkes day as well. (Faux news(yes I know it's pronounced differently))

They can do it. They've hacked into the accounts of counter-hackers that the government consults.

Yea just like these jerkoffs who said they were going to crash the stock market. Its anonymity is one of its greatest weaknesses because any jackoff kid can claim to be in Anonymous.

Except they should be protecting the right of anybody to broadcast whatever they want.

You can't have a crusade about how freedom of media is a human right and torrenting should be legal a priori etc. etc., and then throw a paddy when a particular outlet says something you don't agree with (or even lies). That's not how freedom of speech works; you can't only support it for people who agree with you. So this whole thing is really extremely puerile.

There's a difference between freedom of speech and purposely inciting controversy and hatred.

Why is this even a big deal? It's just a website......

The way the title of this thread sounds and the dramatic music on the youtube video I thought a group of people were going to blow up the Fox News television broadcasting station or something

I get where you're coming from, and I agree, but the opposing opinion at least has to be mature and educated about it.

There's a big difference between protecting the right to voice one's opinion and protecting the ability to feed harmful lies to millions of people.

I'm not so sure. I think they are actually the same right. There's no law against lying, and there shouldn't be; in any case, nobody made Anonymous arbiter of who's allowed to say what, and that includes who's allowed to lie about what. You can't just have freedom of speech a little bit; freedom of speech should be absolutely total, and if the population aren't mature enough to deal with the consequences of that, tough.

The moderator should be people themselves. People should have the wit to be sceptical about whatever they hear, and be open to opposing views. Indeed, to seek them out.

I think the internet is increasingly becoming a catalyst for rationalism, though. I'm pretty optimistic about it. But like I say; you connect people, and you give them the ability to say whatever they want, and you let the people sort it out; you do not go any further. That's why whoever this is is being childish and in fact pretty contrary to what's good about Anonymous. And really, it's pretty obvious that it's not an objective decision. Fox has been targeted not in small part because it's highly conservative, and what they say often pisses people off. That's a bad reason to take it down.

Everyone contradicts themselves at some point. Fox News contradicts the idea of an unbiased press that reports facts, not opinions. Anonymous is contradicting the idea of a web where everyone is free to publish whatever they want however they want.

They aren't going to make the "believers" of Fox News NOT like Fox News; they are just going to make them feel sorry that "so many enemies" are out there against Fox News. Another contradiction! Maybe it would be more effective of them to simply change every article category on Fox News to "Opinion". It would make a bigger statement to the values of the hackers, in my opinion.
