On the other hand China did have 30% growth of the economy and is the fastest developing country. Freedom sucks if you're poor like Africa, its better to be a rich peasant with less freedom then a dying peasent with just the illusion of freedom.

In reality, this is the same as America when they imprision people in Guantanamo bay.

Anyways, I agree that spending half of your life glued to a computer screen isn't productive but the Chinese always have to take it to such extremes...

I think its possible to spend quite a bit of productive time while on the internet. On the days that I spend 4+hours online, much of that time is spent researching topics that interest me; science, philosophy, religion, etc.

Also, and I think the article pointed this out as well, the time limit to qualify for an addiction doesn't take into account the thousands of people who spend a lot of time online while at work. I stay up all night with little or nothing to do and so sometimes I could be online for close to 7 hours on days that I work. I don't think this means I should be committed.

The article is written in such a manner that it's hard to take it seriously. Most likely everything is shamelessly exaggerated.

More to come, China is getting stronger, that means its going to be pictured as an ultimate evil in the Western mass-media. Just in case that some other country would wish to bomb it and replace its "cruel" government for pawns, hehe.
