      De ja vu

Sometimes when i have dejavu, the familiarity of the situation of a particular event in my life feels like something that i've experienced before, and most of the time, i wouldn't be able to remember such experience happening in my life before, but once or twice, i remember a dejavu that i felt :

I was sitting in an airport playing cards in the waiting gate and i was sitting nearby a glass wall (one of those fancy airports) and i had a dejavu at that moment, but this time, i remember that i've had this experience in my dreams a while ago before this event was happening

either way, does any of you guys think there might be a connection between dejavu and dreams? that dejavu connects to our dream, but since we forget our dreams a lot, we dismiss these experiences as dejavu and nothing more, what do you think? please discuss

That could actually be a very good explanation.

      Agreed. Sounds realistic.
      I realize that i'm dreaming.
      I realize that i'm dreaming.
      I realize that i'm dreaming.

I've had deja vu moments where I recall feelings or experiences from dreams, or vice versa. It's an odd sensation.

Most are based on actual experiences, some of which have remained hidden in me for as many as 25 years. Others are simple connections to thoughts or dreams that were seemingly lost forever.

      It's harmless either way.

Yeah, I have a feeling that deja vu has more than one explanation, and forgotten dreams could easily explain a lot of it. It happens to me every once in a while, usually multiple times in a few weeks, and then not again for months. I've only had one instance of deja vu that I believed to be an experience I had in a dream once. The rest are just confusing to me and I'm not sure where the hell it comes from. When I think of it, the feeling of deja vu is, to me, very similar to the feeling of a dream. It's a very interesting subject.

Actually, I really like to try to use deja vu to sort of look a few seconds into the future... it doesn't really usually work though.

I had a deja vu moment last night. I was watching a James Bond movie and a scene appeared that had been in a recent dream of mine. When I had the dream and subsequently wrote it down I didn't realize the scene was from that movie until I saw it last night.

I haven't seen that James Bond movie in many years.

The mind is an amazing recorder.

well, based on these testimonies, i think it's safe to say that dejavu has a connection to subconscious mind and dream, even if it's just in the slightest bit.

I've had fewer and fewer deja vus the older I've become, which sucks because I find them really enjoyable.

I'm sure I heard once or twice that deja vus are your brain slowing down temporarily? Meaning it seems like you process the information twice (or maybe more times). I don't know how true this is, but it seems legit to me.

I've heard that too, and I really think that that idea is fascinating. I've even heard that your brain speeds up and actually sees the future before it happens, which would be even cooler. Imagine if you could learn to use that power freely

I had a couple of deja vu moments recently but I'm pretty sure it was based on similar situations recurring.

It's not abnormal to have situations become repetitive, particularly as you age and have kids.
