Dream cartography is a modification of DJ technique when one emphasize place over plot. By keeping regular DJ main task is to remember what had happend in the dream, who were in the dream, about what they talked and so on. The ultimate goal of dream cartography is to create the map of your own dream world.

This approach have some advantages over traditional one.

      1) It is more fun because it is about researching and exploring and not about gossips of old-aged DCs .
      2) Plots are limitless, but the number of places (in non-lucid dreams) is not. Actually, most of dreams happen in relatively small number of places, so after a while one starts to remember another dreams connected to this place.
      3) The goal to explore dream world gradually creeps to dream state, so dream alter-ego also starts to think about researching surroundings .
      4) Dream maps can be shared and discussed. One of most cool features of dream cartography is that some elements of dream maps are shared by a lot of people (well, it looks like dream world is a projection of our psyche or "subconciousness" - whichever term you like more, so it makes sense as we are one species ).
      5) After a while you can get a precise map of your personal subway system! (if you have it, probably if you never lived in the big city, you may have something other instead of it).

The main problem for starting dream map is the starting point, so it is recommended to place home at the center of the map.

Haha you know how they make all these epic movies based on the journals of people from whenever in history? I think in the future some of these epic dream journals may serve the same purpose!

Well at least I can savour the thought that someday after I am gone, I will be friggin' famous superstar!!

because my dreamjournal entries are full of epic and twisted things.......
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

Well, it is not a big problem as I actually intended to publish it in my DJ but it need some work to make it ready for publishing (add more places, set keywords, points of interest and so on). I hope to do this during January holidays (in my country we enjoy long ten-days holidays in January ).

I keep a blue hardcover blankbook for ordinary dreaming. I write my ordinary dreams in blue ink.

I keep a red one for lucid dreams. I write in blue ink up until the point I become lucid, then switch to red ink.

I keep a green one for cataloging dream powers and goals. I write these in Irish.

I keep an ordinary mini spiral bound notebook for charting frequencies and progress.

      Cool!
It also sounds very useful for identifying dream signs and helping to attain lucidity!

Here's mine. Sorry you have to click on the thumbnail to enlarge. I don't seem to be able to put pictures on any other way. Please do click on it as it took me an hour to get this on here and I'm pretty frustrated right now to say the least.

Weird. So, your dreams generally center around a few specific locations?

Personally, my dreams are rarely 'set' in any one place twice, unless the dream is a direct continuation of a previous one (i.e. the plots are connected).

Well, my 1.3 megapixel camera takes pictures that are almost 4 times the allowed size, so you won't get to see it. The book is hard, but it looks like green leather with a yellow dragon on the front. The spine is made of real leather, and it has a built in bookmark so I can flip right to the next page. I hardly ever write in it, favoring my online DJ because it's easier, faster, and I can read it. The entries I do have in my paper DJ are incredibly hard to read because I try to scribble it all down before I forget anything.

This is a little exaggeration. I said that number of places where (non-lucid) dreams take place are significantly less than possible plots. After processing few hundreds of dream I made a list of about sixty places (of course, I am sure there are much more).

Some places reoccur much more often than others. Some I've visited only once or twice.

Some are rather stable - for example in a lot of dreams I went by train to a small town and even before I started doing cartography I knew this place very good. And if I go to next train station then there are also some place I have been numerous times when I was younger.

Some like disguise themselves - in one dream it was a Reserch Institute where aliens were studied, in other - strange education facility, in third - "Holland's Univercity", but after I woke up I knew that it was the same place I call "The Academy".

There is a nice side effect of this practice: now if I saw some dream which, for example, took place in the hotel, than after wroting it down and thinking a little about it I suddenly may remember a couple or three other dreams which were taking place in the same place.

Personally, my dreams are rarely 'set' in any one place twice, unless the dream is a direct continuation of a previous one (i.e. the plots are connected).

      I use an art book...

The lack of lines kinda sucks, but I like to draw important parts as well as write the down.

I ran out of things to do today, so I started to doodle some. Then I somehow tried to draw a map of my dream world. Was pretty hard

I've started making of English version of map. Here is what I have done for today (rough draft, not finished - about half of known places is not on the map, and no descriptions).

Irish? Any special reason for that?
      1) It's good practice.

      2) It's easier than writing my LDs in Irish cause I'm usually too tired.

      3) It's the stuff I'm least desirous of other people reading and understanding.

I think Irish is your native language, then

I usually write in Dutch too, because it's just so much easier in the middle of the night XD
