My parents didn't really say anything but gave me that 'strange look'. I haven't told my brother that I am starting to study Lucid Dreaming. A few of my friends just kinda giggled when I told them that I was going to learn how to tell if I am dreaming or awake. Oh well! Their loss!!

I find that when I bring up my dreams--or even just the general topic of dreams--people seem eager to tell me about theirs.

It's like they were waiting for a reason to discuss their own, but haven't had the proper outlet in much too long.

I've also had a few people tell me that the more they discuss dreams with me, their dreams start to change in subtle ways. Even though it's their own subconscious doing the work, it's still exciting for me.

Since 95% of my dreams are the biggest pile of nonsense you could possibly think of, yeah, I usually get something like "What the hell... you're messed up in the head"

+1. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation is for cool kids nowadays, I suppose.

To the topic, I have never been treated like I was odd when I talk about dreams, let alone lucid dreams. I explain my dreams, people get into conversation with me about them and their own, and sometimes I talk about lucid dreams. I'm careful not to just go off on crazy tangents on either topic, but have never been treated like I was a freak or crazy when talking about them.

      Yeah definitely.
Not only when I tell them my dreams, though.

Yes, some people have said they'd be worried something was wrong with them if they had dreams like mine.

But some people ask if I've had any wierd ones lately, and my mum told me I was obsessed.

In the past I had a couple friends I could talk about dreams with regularly. (just normal dream talk, i didn't know what lucids were) Lost touch with them after I went to university though.

I bring up dreams occasionally to my friends, and they just look at me weird, and change the topic lol. Only other people I'd consider talking to about dreams are my family, and I don't really wanna do that till I get decent at LDing.

It really depends on who I`m talking to about the dream. Only two of my friends get really into the conversation, though. Those two friends and I talk about dreams whenever we can remember them. Even though they laugh about some of the dreams sometimes, they don`t think I`m weird because of them.

My other friends are a completely different story. I don`t talk about dreams with them.

People thought my dreams were too weird and didn't like it when I talked about them. So I stopped and just write them in a journal.

Back in high school I liked to get weird dreams off my chest to my friends. Most didn't listen/didn't care/thought it was interesting at first but got fed up/thought it was weird.

I guess, I went on a bit too much to the wrong people.

Nowadays I can talk about my dreams in-depth to my boyfriend who even discusses with me points he finds relevant or significant. I often ask him about his dreams but he's only ever told me one of the, because he doesn't really remember that many.

I can also talk to my parents/relatives about it, and they sometimes report weird dreams of their own, but they don't seem to recall theirs as much either. I used to not tell my parents because some of my dreams could be quite violent or sexual or gory, even worrying, and they were the type who would (and tried to - I was old enough to refuse thankfully and the doc didn't deem it necessary) have me put on drugs and therapy.

But they and I have grown up a bit since then and I can be more open with them about it now.

So, I'd say both. I won't vote in the poll because it would not affect the poll in any way if I could choose both options, and since I can't, there's no point anyway.

Most of the time, yes. People usually don't remember their dreams and usually just want to stay conscious in the awake life. Usually when I mention that I dreamed about something last night, people usually get interested or try to feign interest.

      Some, but not all.

I think one who thinks about weirdness is my wife :S

Yeah, it's so annoying! I have close friends who will listen, but even then i feel like they're bored of me babbling about them, that's one of the reasons why I joined this site just so I could share my dreams! I was telling my friend about one I had then this other girl who I know butted in and was like "I think you need to see someone about that" OMG I wasn't even talking to her. It annoys me sooooo much :/
Yeah people think I'm weird when I talk about my dreams, that's why I keep a dream diary instead

I always get 'The Look'.. Especially when I was talking to someone about what I wanted to name my children, and I said 'Alice, Because it came to me in a dream"... I got the ultimate look right then.
And now.. for a Stephen Strutmeyer Film...

Some people are just plain rude, I wouldn't call them weird, what right have i got to judge someone like that?? :/
Also Kraftwerk I think Alice is a lovely name and the fact that you got it from a dream is all the more reason to call your child that, obviously it shows you've thought about it.

I guess it's all in the delivery. If I want to bring the topic up with someone, I usually don't say it by it's name... I say something like, "I realized I was dreaming, and I didn't wake up!" I don't give them too many other details until I guage their response to the first statement. If I get a "Oh cool!" then it's all go But if I get a "Hmmm," then I'm just like, "So yeah, it was pretty cool and now for a subject change!"

I'm very lucky though. I have a very spiritually/open-minded sort of family. With my mum, I can tell her pretty much any of my crazy notions. She's done astral projection herself, and has precog dreams, so she's pretty much fair game for any ideas/theories/etc I have bouncing around in my head.

My boyfriend was a little "meh" on the topic of LDing at first. Ever since I started going on and on about it to him, he's noticed that he gets LD's fairly frequently (more frequent than me, the lucky bastard), but he doesn't write them down because he doesn't share my enthusiam. Do I want to smack him? Yes, repeatedly.

I can't answer the poll seeing as I don't talk to anyone about anything outside of my family.
However, I remember when I was like four my mom my sister and I would all just lay in bed and talk about our dreams. That was always fun. *Reminisces*

but i couldn't think of anywhere i would have rather been
to watch it all burn away

It isn't any weirder to talk about LDs and stuff than anything else I do.

Most of my friends are cool with it. I even have a couple who share theirs as well. Another one is a member on this forum.
But one of them had a conversation with me about dreams and ended up saying, "Why would you want to fly in dreams? Whats the point of that? You're so weird."
It seems all she cares about is softball. How boring!

I've only told my sisters about my dreams but they didn't think i was crazy, in fact i asked my oldest sister has she ever had a lucid dream? And she asked whats that? And then i asked her, has she ever realized that she was dreaming? And she said yes.

I only have one friend with that kind of open mind to the point where i can inform him about lucid dreaming and my attempts and sometimes he tells me dreams he remembers but to everyone else, i feel like they get bored as soon as i say "I remember a dream i had last night where ......."
