Most of my dreams are EXTREEMLY crazy. They normally involve my friends or people at my school so I tell them about it and we all have a big laugh. I have had people tell me "Man, you're dreams are wierd". I just laugh. What's the fun of dreams if they're plain and simple?

I have better dream recall than most of my acquaintances, so they think it's weird that I can recall them in such details, and they find the plots weird in themselves. (though that's probably because I keep the boring dreams to myself)
I had this friend who swore she never dreamt. I had become a habit for me to tell her my dreams at lunch. She actually looked forward to it. I think she felt deprived.

      dream interpetation

I dont think it is weird to tell your dreams to others , in fact when you shared it you might find someone who can give a meaning to your dream.

Well... My friends and my father (The only persons I told about this hobby yet) just accepted it as a normal hobby. As I told them, that I'll have a dremajournal the most of them thought 'wtf' at first. But I think now, after a lil' bit more introduction in lucid dreaming, they accepted it.

Lucid dreams have great potential, which is hard to deny. But in order to see and benefit from this potential a lot of people have to rethink everything about what they think they know about life. For instance, the first thing that people have to accept is that the dream world is as real as the physical world; which is hard to accept for them because most people in this society only believe in a solid/materialistic reality.

But it takes effort to change your belief. And the belief about reality is important, which means that it takes a lot of effort to change. Rejecting the new information is a lot easier. So most people reject it to protect themselves from having to invest effort into accepting to save themselves from the anxiety they experience. The anxiety is caused by cognitive dissonance. Cognitions (knowledge) that are conflicting with each other. This is what drives people to change and learn. Although many people are not aware of this and they simply ignore everything, even when it's being pushed in their faces.

I too was afraid of lucid dreaming, even though I thought I believed that it was great. There was some conflict in my mind, caused by other conflicts. People's conflicting opinions conflicting with my own. And having to defend my opinion against them, which I really wanted to do. But I sucked at it. Now that I see this, I can finally really learn to lucid dream. Because I resolved (some part of) the cognitive dissonance that I was experiencing. Now my belief in lucid dreaming is increasing, but still not optimal. I'm working on it.

I also think that we as lucid dreamers need to spread the message about lucid dreaming and not keep it to ourselves because we're afraid of other people's opinions about it. Lucid dreaming must be acknowledged. I have a feeling that if everybody was lucid dreaming, that somehow we would all be very kind and open-minded towards each other.

I enjoyed how that was so thoughtfully said, Koalaman

Most of my IRL friends don't really care, they think it's boring. But I talk a lot about them with people online.

My friends don't think I am wierd because I tell them about my dreams. They think its wierd that I had four dreams where I had a pierced septum and then I woke up and pierced mine & things such as this

In the dark ages past people used to think it real bad for other people to talk about dreams. I think since movies have made a big impact on peoples lives, they think dreaming is like a movie but with characters and places one knows. They're all stories basically. People usually say "huh, thats strange/ interesting." I don't think they believe you're weird though, everyone dreams.

Whenever I tell someone about a dream I had, they generally look at me like I've just said something completely mornonic like, "My dog painted a picture of a marshmellow in a tophat the other day."

People get all surprised when I say "You were in my dream last night."
They act all shocked and are like, "What? You serious? That is sooo weird..." Then they give me a look like I'm some phsyco... Don't understand why. These are people I spend 6 hours a day with at school and talk to all the time. How can they expect not to pop up occasionaly in someone elses dream..?

EDIT: See, I just had a conversation on the phone with a friend and I remembered this thread and decided to do an experiment. I didn't actually dream about this person.

Me: You were in a dream I had last night.
      Friend: -silence- Are you serious?
      Me: Yes...
Friend: That is f***ing f***ed up.
      Me: Why?
Friend: I donno... 'Cause you dreamt about me.
Me: Why is it so weird that I had a dream about you when you're my best friend?
      Friend: Just is.

Am I going insane? Why is having a dream that may have involved a friend in the slightest bit is 'f***ed up?

      Same...

Unless I say I was terrified in my dream and felt like I was going to die when I woke up I was so scared, no one cares.

In the above case, they laugh..

I blog and write instead of talk to people about it. I think many people don't think much of dreams, not the best conversation starters and keepers, at least that is my perception.
And experience it as a place to visit and play with reality.

Usually they feel anxious because I tell I can do anything in my dreams. Women don't like the idea, especially when I give them very meaningful look after I say that ^^
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

Well, the only one I share my dreams with is my husband. The rest just don't understand, or they think it's really weird to mention dreams, even my immediate family. If I even mention to someone at work that they were in my dream last night, they look at me funny, so I just don't mention it anymore.

I will tell my fam if I had a really cool dream (or I thought it was cool). I'd tell my GF also

I was also talking to my buddy on Sat about a dream I had that was history related (he's a history buff) and that I had a dream I was a Grenadier (civil war related). He was actually interested because I was describing what I could and. I described the gun I had (a long Blunderbuss looking gun) and he asked, "did you have a hat on?" "yah, it was tall, black and fuzzy" He was somewhat astonished, laughed and said "that's what they actually wore!" Which is cool coz I may have seen a grenadier soldier once and it was years ago. Talked about this formation I was in (on the right side) and he said that in that time period, your best of the best were to your right and since grenediers were considered the best, I was right! Pretty amazing, and we must've spent an hr+ talking about dreams we have had

It's all who you talk to. My fam, GF, and best friend (story I just told) are prob all I'd tell my dreams to
