are WILDS possible when first going to sleep?

From what I read in the tutorial, you can have a wild by taking a nap in the middle of the day with meditation, so wouldn't it be possible to do the same right before you go to sleep? or am I wrong? (the reason I ask is that it would be nice to be able to wild without waking up in the middle of the night)

Normally, you don't dream right away when you first go to sleep. You have no dream to enter. For whatever reason, many people have solid dreams during morning and afternoon naps.

I've entered sleep paralysis once when I just got into bed, but I didn't enter a dream. Since you're not in REM, the dream will probably be very short or nonexistent, and besides, it takes a while to relax enough. It's not worth the hassle.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I did it once, it only lasted about 20 seconds and it felt like I had shivers going down my spine. Everything was black and heard someone at the door of my bedroom say "beep" and then a dark figure went by my bed.

      I was disappointed.

Well, at least you were able to do it.

okay, thanks guys, I guess I'm doomed to set my alarm clock whenever I want to have a WILD, or just nap every Saturday afternoon. Thanks for the help.

I've tried loads of times to WILD straight away when going to bed but have never achieved it, but there could be a slight workaround if you're prepared to spend an hour or so getting a nap before your usual bedtime.
Here's what I did, first off, if you usually go to bed around 11:00pm try getting an hours nap about 9:00pm. Set 2 alarms, one to go off at 10:00pm and one for 10:30 - 10:45pm.
When the first alarm wakes you, quickly turn it off without too much movement and try and WILD from that point on, if nothing happens and you fall asleep without reaching lucidity then it'll only be 30-45 minutes before you wake up again from the 2nd alarm, that way you won't end up ruining the rest of your nights sleep. You then want to go to bed for your full nights sleep a couple of hours after that point, this too gives you another chance to WILD again.

The idea here I guess is to get yourself into the first REM phase as quickly as you can and I've practised a little in the past with this and I know I can reach REM inside an hour and have managed SP plus vibrations etc after that, but haven't quite been able to enter the dream directly.

Afternoon naps are the way to go. You go straight into REM and it's so much easier to recall the dream.
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.

I saw that just now in the tutorial as well. I can attest that this is surely NOT the case. I used to make myself fall directly into lucid dreams when I was a kid. I didn't lay in bed for 5 hours until it happened. It took a few minutes. I have since lost this ability so I might try some of the suggestions I read. I really miss it because it came so easy and I immediately entered a dream world I could fully control.
