      The First Rule About Placebos...

      Don't talk about placebos.

I bet many people have been disappointed by a thread about something that will get them lucid, but is really just a placebo, and, not knowing it, they read a reply about it actually being a placebo. So basically, if you know something is a placebo effect, don't say it. Keep it to yourself please

Agreed...probably also the reason the PILD technique didnt work for me...
The idea is to remain in a constant state of departure while always arriving..

I'd rather have someone going around saying every technique is just placebo in order to sort out those that really work. Sure you can get one or two lucids by just believing that a technique works but in my experience it never lasts and in the long run it would just create a big mess of misinformation around here

Actually, I think Oneironaut recently posted a thread about placebos that would disagree with you. http://www.dreamviews.com/f77/just-h...anyway-108172/

I'm still a little skeptical about that, but I'm open to things. It sounded like in that article they told people it was a placebo but that it would still work, which seems a little contradictory to me. I still think that, even if both were true, the person that didn't know it was a placebo would have more of an effect than the one who did know.

Placebos MUST be exposed, or else you might as well throw the whole scientific method out the window and go back to mysticism and gurus.
