      A question about False Awakenings

When most people seem to have a false awakening, they either realise they're dreaming, or go back to sleep and wake up for real. But is it possible that you don't realise and go on with your day as you normally would? I ask this partly out of interest, and partly because when I woke up this morning I felt quite strange. It's hard to explain, but I just felt... different. Not emotionally different, but just, different. And I did a lot of RC's, but eventually just realised that I wasn't dreaming. But has anyone ever just gone on with their normal day as they would in waking life, and then just suddenly woken up?

Yes this actually happens a lot. I've heard stories of people having to write in their dream journals
2 or 3 times, I've heard a story of some people getting all ready for the day then going downstairs
and noticing something completely off. Its not uncommon to fail to notice a false awakening. Thats
why its important to do reality checks regularly, especially right when you wake up.

Yeah I've definatly hear people say that they've got ready and left their house and all the sudden woke up and had to do it all over again hahah. That would suck. My false awakenings are usually really dream like and I don't feel conscious at all. On the other hand, I have had FA where I feel conscious and get out of bed, but don't know I'm dreaming. So then I wake up for real. Its hard to explain. Its like I'll have really dreaming FA that I don't have control of, but then I have ones that I actually think I'm awake but am actually dreaming.
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

The one FA I remember was non-lucid

I'm actually started this technique last night. The technique gives you at least three FA a night. I got 2 and became lucid in the last one.

I know that sort of FA is common, but I've never actually had a FA where I awoke in my bed exactly as if I had woken up for real.

It used to happen to me all the time, but I've managed to train myself to RC every time I wake up, which helped a lot.
I don't really have as many FA's as I used to though, but yeah, I've scribbled into my dream notepad during FA's way too often.

Fairly recently I dreamt that I woke up and got dressed and all ready for work. Then when I went to leave the house I really did wake up and I was so gutted that I had to get ready all over again!

Yeah, it does feel very annoying, especially if it happens a few times in a row.

What technique do you use to get more FA. I'd love to have more. It would be easier to become lucid if I dreamt about my room all the time. Although it would probably get annoying after along.

Heres the technique. I would recommend using it every other night because if you dont it will probably wear you out. http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/ifatal...-faild-107419/

Yes. It's happened to me. It didn't last long though, I got up, went downstairs, ate cereal and woke up xD
one of my favorite LD's occurred from a FA. So it was a school morning, I woke up around 5 or 4 for real, and I usually have to wake up at 6 for school, so I fell back asleep, then I "woke up" (FA) and the clock said 7:30 and I was like "CRAP. I am late for school" and it was light outside, so I ran downstairs and my mom was like "it's okay" and I did a reality check then ran outside and started an LD.
I love false awakenings, but sometimes they frustrate me since I have one in the middle of the night and don't realize until the morning. That pisses me off

Wow, this was the last thread I read before having a nap and guess what happened?

The annoying thing was I had just SP'd and probably would have reality checked but a DC entered my room while I was in bed and I got a bit freaked out. She kept trying to get off with me whilst I was shouting "No, I have a girlfriend!" and scrambling back from her so my chance to RC was a bit inhibited!

yes - last week i had a FA and i got up and started telling my roommate about the lucid dream i just had. then i woke up for real and told her about it all over again... followed by her telling me that i was mumbling in my sleep.. to which i replied "that was probably the part where i was telling about the dream"
      it was all very strange.

I screwed up my last post, this is the actual dream I had from an FA, I found it on one of my old threads

I woke up at 4:50 randomly and had recalled two dreams
and I realized the WILD alarm hadn't gone off, so I said screw it and turned it off all together, then I fell back asleep.
my normal alarm was set for 6 because I have school, and I woke up at six
but I was extremely tired so I turned the alarm off
      and fell back asleep
this is where the dream starts: so I "woke up" (false awakening) and i checked the clock and it was 2:30pm so I was like confused on how I slept from 6 am when I pushed snooze until 2pm. and I started to write in my DJ and I was a little skeptical so I did the nose RC and I was astonished that I was dreaming
I was SO happy. so my mom was like "you need to go to school" and I said I was gonna go outside for a bit, so I did and it was SO FREAKING CLEAR. It seemed for vivid than in real life.so I just kinda soaked it all in. I was walking around my neighborhood and I saw my friends and stuff, then I walked down this street and I saw a group of 5, 18 year old guys who were in a gang, somehow I was in only towels now, so I started running away, one of them chased me and started choking me so I was kicking him, then there was blackness and I remember thinking "I want to be in a bamboo jungle" I opened my eyes, and I was in a bamboo jungle but I was a monkey..I looked at my hands so I saw they were monkey hands and I wanted to change into a mouse so I did then I'm like "this is stupid" so I shut my eyes and I wanted to go to an ocean, so I appeared in a parade thing and there was like a huge volcano and tons of people so I was trying to shoot lightning out of my hands but I couldn't so I ran into the crowd cause one of my goals is to have a conversation with a dream character so I started getting trampled then the dream faded and I woke up and it was 6:30am.
thankfully I woke up only 30 minutes later, but the dream was so clear, it was so amazing <3
