Strange ways to achieve lucidity.

I'm fairly sure everyone has had strange ways with the achieving of lucidity in dreams.

I will begin my thread by saying I had my first lucid dream this Monday, and it lasted 5 to 10 minutes, no more than that. Fairly short, but awesome.

I must, however, comment on the way I achieved lucidity. It was not by reality checking, nor was it by mantras, not even WBTB methods. I became lucid in the dream because a friend of mine, one of the characters in the dream, told me it was a dream - he was speaking to his girlfriend -, and then he looked at me and told me to get out of his dream. After that, I was in another place - my high school, actually - completely aware of my dream state.

Has this happened with any of you? Seemed fairly uncommon to me.

Also, tell us the surely strangest ways you have ever achieved lucidity in your dreams.

um once I was showing my friend how to lucid dream in a non lucid dream
and the weirdest way I have bevome lucid is wiggling my finger in my dream as a reality check and it wiggles in real life and it feels strange so I become lucid (works every time (about 4 times(but my ld's never last)))
and I have taught people how to lucid dream in dreams before... it was a FAIL to the NOOB power

A talking yellow star, floating behind a chain link fence, told me to "Get [my] lucid on," before zipping away into the sky.

There was someone that posted a tutorial on becoming lucid.... It involved electrocuting your penis -_-

Last week I had a dream I would go into peoples dreams and teach them that it was a lucid dream and how to recognize it. I think my subconscious was trying to tell me that I was dreaming.... But I was dumb and didn't pick up on the clues that time. I woke up very frustrated for being so dumb hah

well the main thing that is shut down when your sleeping/dreaming is your logic center

100th post! Hah glad it was on a thread about one of the worst times I've ever missed becoming lucid.

The strangest way for me was during a "false awakening". I thought I'd woken from a (non-lucid) dream that I found so interesting I wanted to write it down before I forgot it. I was sure I was awake, everything appeared as it should, but when I entered my living room to get my laptop to type up the details of the dream, I instantly realized that the room wasn't as it appeared in reality (even though my bedroom had - to a TEE), but instead as it had appeared in the interesting dream - I then instantly knew I was dreaming & was able to start effecting my environment. I would be way more excited about this had it all not ended in a pretty nasty nightmare.

Lol. im pretty sure that it was just a troll that posted that because that was his first post and he hasent posted sense. So i think that for the most part it was a way to make fun of our community.

Needless to say it didnt hurt us a bit

Hey I remember seeing that article a while ago. I laughed pretty hard

Anyway, There arent any funny times I became lucid, but there were some pretty lolworthy times where I didn't. I picked up a book on lucid dreaming and I was like, "that's stupid" and put it back on the shelf. And NO LUCIDITY Dx
