giving dream characters more personality

i haven't examined dream characters in my own dreams but from what i read on the forum they seem stupid,gullible,and empty. Is there was to make dream characters more real and full of personality?

Well my DC's seem to be pretty smart and rational, i've never seen them doing anything weird. But I notice they have more personality when I pay more attention to them.

I've got a pretty good mix of stupid an intelligent dream characters. I agree with their becoming more intelligent and responsive, once you pay more attention to them, but I've noticed that some of them just like to argue, regardless of how smart or dumb they seem. lol

Some DCs can be unresponsive or aloof, but others can be rather intelligent. I think it depends on how your subconscious feels like playing things out in the dream. If you want to summon a specific dream character, daydream about them - it's an effective way to cement their personality(s) into your subconscious, giving you a better chance of them acting the way you like. You can always, when in the dream itself, use expectations and simply "know" that they'll behave a certain way.

I also have another tip, which might help, might not - I find that if I act more outgoing and confident, the DCs themselves are more outgoing. In my lucids I often put on a more hardened, observative and knowledgeable persona though, so I have to actively "expect" them to act a certain way.

Most if not all of my DCs have a developed personality, I never expected them to be zombie like, so guess thats why. They could pass as a real person any day, don't build up expectations, that way the zombie-DC will appear less.

I have run into dream characters that hate my guts, stare at me or smile, wanted some kind of sexual encounter with me, or just wanted to talk. all theses things i have witnessed lucid. Some people think they are a figment of your imagination but i have had repeated encounters with that same figment of my imagination so i conclude they are as real as me existing in a nonphysical form and continue to exist wether im in the astral dream scape or not. just my humble opinion though.
