There's some good stuff on this page, but I wouldn't suggest spinning "rapidly" as he described. Spinning too fast often only works to further destabilize the dream, because you can't focus on any of your surroundings well enough. Slow dream spinning, combined with rubbing one's hands together, works the best in my opinion.
Sappy, when you got into the car, was it a convertible? One time I entered a regular car in a lucid, the dream started to destabilize because I could no longer see anything through the car's windows - they were foggy, and the interior of the car was somewhat unstable, if that makes sense. Touching the interior of the car and really visualizing what it will look like, many of the details, the texture of the stitching and fabric of the seats... In other words, treating the new location (in a sense) like a brand new lucid dream can really help. If you were in a convertible, you should still have an awareness of what's around you. Don't focus all your attention onto the steering wheel or other parts of the car; look ahead of you at the dream scene and don't lose focus on what's around you.
