Before KingYoshi did the ADA thread I was already practicing something similar: inspecting the world carefully and taking notice of every detail. It really helps me DILD much better. |

I started practicing awareness about 1.5 years ago, and never really noticed any improved or decreased realism, both in dreams or waking life. ADA is a form of awareness practice which involves using it all the time, which for some people may be too much and cause a slight blurring of realities - on the contrary, not practicing awareness enough can also do so, because you're not sure if you're dreaming or awake until you observe things around you. It's a fine line to draw. |

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Have questions about lucid dreaming? DM me.
Yes, I sometimes do exactly that, doing a bunch of reality checks. However it seems that I sometimes never do so in dreams! I sometimes get extremely busy with tons of stuff in dreams making it impossible to do ada and go lucid in them. |

ludr is right. When you start questioning reality, there is a higher chance that you'll do so in dreams. I suppose it would be a side-effect if there are several important things you do during most days but for most of us, we are trying to achieve that state of mind so we can become lucid easier. |
|
Well, your reality checks will never fail for you in waking life, so be sure to perform a few if you think you are dreaming. For the dream state, I always go with the nose pinch RC. It has never failed to work in the dream state before (for me anyway). It is my most trusted RC and I always perform it several times in a row. If it seems to be getting worse as you practice, go ahead and take a break from ADA for a bit. |

I read KingYoshis guide and I understand it but, how much should I practice ADA? |
|
As much as you wish. Even a little practice can help boost your awareness. I say, start slow, see what it does for you, and just build from there. |

No, it is not that I find ADA hard. In fact I do it naturally for a long time. |

There certainly other ways you can remind yourself to RC/practice awareness. If you have a cell phone, you can set alarms on it throughout the day. You could also take a sharpy and just put a small spot on your hand. It would of, of course, symbolize the same things as full blown writing, but it is more discreet. Your parents likely would never see it, but if your parents did ask, "What is on your hand?" You can simply say you rubbed it against something. Play it off as a black smudge. Many people like to set up "triggers" as well. Like any time you hear your name, or walk through a doorway, or something similar. Any time one of these things happen, perform your ADA/RC. |

I like the way you think, Siphorix. I've had something similar written on my hand (near the base of the thumb) so I notice it when I'm typing. I'm getting more and more into the habit of questioning reality now. There is a small question I have though. Once you have your first LD and experience how realistic it is (or so I've read), does it get easier to question reality during waking life? I'm assuming it would be but you can understand if it's hard for someone who hasn't had a LD to grasp how vivid one can be. |

Firstly, like EVERYTHING, once you do it for the first time, every time following that become way easier. This is because you will know and experience the steps your body/mind took to get the dreaming stage (for WILD and MILD). |

No you explained it awesomely. Gives me a lot more motivation to achieve my first LD. I haven't given up yet and don't plan on it. Even if I have to practice for months before achieving my first LD, I'll do it (of course I'd prefer sooner). What I really can't wrap my mind around is taste or smell. I could see how sound, touch, and sight in a dream can be extremely real but I guess I won't know how smell and taste are until I have a LD. Thanks for the great description, Siphorix. |

I promise you, once you have that first Lucid Dream, your motivation to try harder will Sky-Rocket !!! You will be obsessed with Lucid-Dreaming.. haha |

Yeah, LD-ing is SUPER AWESOME. It is just pure enjoyment to simply sit in a corner and observe the world. LDs actually feel much clearer and more real than real life! |
