If you are like me, remembering to do reality checks is a pain. I would probably have twice as many LD's if I would remember to do them.
So to try and help out, I've compiled a few ways to help yourself remember to do reality checks.
1. For Readers:
If you are a book worm, I suggest using sticky notes. Take about 10-15 sticky notes and write "Reality Check" or "Am I dreaming?" or something similar. Stick them randomly on pages you have yet to read in your current book. If you are a quick reader, go ahead and put them in several of your books. You'll turn the page and come across a reality check. Maybe if you even dream about the books you read, the reality check note will become part of your dream.
2. For People Who Use the Computer a lot:
I have a few tips here:
First, consider changing your wallpaper to text that says "Reality Check."
Second, You could constantly keep a notepad open with reality check typed there. Whenever you notice the notepad, open it up and read the words, or just do the reality check when you notice it.
Third, this one involves Google's search history, or just your internet browser history in general. Simply type in a google search for "reality check." Now whenever you use google to search for something, the recent history will display it.
3. Phone:
Here is another place you could change your wallpaper to something that displays "reality check"
Also, set some alarms (around 5) on your phone to go off randomly in the day. Title them "Reality Check" and set them to vibrate (or a ringtone if you prefer).
4. Simple:
Write it on your hand. This is simple and common among a lot of people here, but it can be very helpful.
You could also consider using a bracelet or some sort of article of clothing to remind you. Just be sure you don't become too accustomed to it being there: you don't want to forget why you're wearing it in the first place. It will defeat the purpose.
5. Around the house:
Put a sticky note on your bathroom mirror. Put one in your car. On the inside of your bedroom door. There are plenty of spots you can put these to remind you.
6. Music Addicts
Record yourself saying "reality check," or find a nice mp3 that is used for lucid dreams. Put it randomly on iTunes/iPod playlists or burn it on a cd along with other songs if you use cd's.
Anyways, that's it for now. I'll add more if I think of more. I know these aren't genius methods, most of them are pretty simple. Just wanted to help those of you out who have run out of ideas on how to remind yourself more often.
