Awareness that I'm dreaming - without realisation

Lately, I've been having lots of dreams wherein I'm fully conscious - making decisions and actually completely aware that what I'm in is a dream, but I haven't been taking control of them. I've just been passing it off as 'Oh yes, it's a dream it won't matter if I steal this car/light that house on fire/sleep with th-' I think you get the point.

Recently I've swapped my mantras I've been using for the past few weeks from
"I am aware when I am dreaming" and "I attract dreams which help me achieve my goals of lucid dreaming"
      to
"I realize I am dreaming" and "I take control of my dreams"

Last night I was in another one of these dreams - running around making decisions while aware that I was dreaming when suddenly it really hit me. "Wait, I am dreaming! Why am I still following this stupid plot?"

I'm sure that this is a good sign towards getting more lucids, I currently get them every 2-3 days, but does anyone else have non-lucid dreams like this sometimes?

I definitely have dreams like this; I act as if I'm lucid but I'm not actually aware. It's as if the lucidity is part of the dream plot, which plays out like I am in fact lucid. It's definitely a good sign that you've got awareness on your mind!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Yeah i get these too..actually had a dream like this 2 days ago..will post it tomorrow, when i wake up i want to kick myself for not realising, it's very annoying when you look back lol I once said "I'll just pee in this bottle and no one will know, they will just think it's part of the dream plot" yet I didn't get proper Lucid yet I was lucid a little enough to know there would be no effects to me from doing what i did lol

When I fall asleep and start dreaming, more often than not its a lucid dream (because I always realise that I am in a dream world). Thats why I don't fully understand - when you say you're not in control of the dream, would you describe yourself as being a mere observer to the actions of your body?

To ensure a decent awareness and control of my dreams, I typically start out in a familiar setting every time I fall asleep. The human mind is very good at registering locations, so as I'm falling asleep I just remind myself that I will appear at this location as soon as I start dreaming. Couple that with a reality check and I instantly become lucid with full awareness and control.

Yes, I do experience this. Sometimes my dreams have two sections - in the first half exciting things happen and in the second half I'm reviewing the earlier part of the dream with DCs and saying things like, "Wasn't that earlier lucid dream great?" I never become properly lucid; it's almost as though I say, "Yes, it's one of those lucid dreams I try to have. No need to RC!"

Your affirmation "I attract dreams which help me achieve my goals of lucid dreaming" is interesting because to me it often seems that kicking myself and asking, "Why on earth didn't I realise it was a dream?" doesn't really address the issue. The question that better addresses the issue is, "Why didn't I get a dream that clearly signaled lucidity to me?"
