      A new way for WBTB?

What I'm thinking of trying is sleeping for 4 hrs and then waking up and downing a mt. dew quickly and then falling back asleep (of course having the soda right beside my bed for quick access) and when I fall asleep and go into the dreamstate within 10-20 mins the caffeine will kick in by then, thus causing higher awareness to pin point wrong things, and then causing a DILD or MILD if you did a mantra.

Caffeine takes 10-20 minutes to kick in
Dreams take the same amount of time in a WBTB as far as I know.

      Opinions?

      --RESULTS--

--I fell asleep at 1:20am and woke up around 5:00am, I downed half of a mt. dew very quickly and then fell back asleep within 8 minutes. When I woke up again I remembered 3 dreams (whole length, not micro dreams) and the first one closest to the mt. dew was exhilerating as I'm guessing came from the caffeine, I was on my skateboard hitchhiking a ride from a 18 wheeler on the highway going 70 mph.

Does it work? | Yes it works, improved recall with 3 full length dreams.

I wil try doing this with tea or 6 hours of sleep in 1 week since I have school tomorrow

The idea is great, though you're generally told to have a 6 hour sleep (rather than 4) and then wake up and consume something with caffein. This idea has already existed for awhile, and is described in the book Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge (I very often refer to this book, as it sets the very baseline and more for lucid dreaming). Difference is, people use coffee rather than a drink. If I'm not mistaken, it's even called CILD? (don't you just love these funny names!).

Something worth to consider though, is that going for a mt dew rather than a coffee, will also mean you'll get a very high amount of sugar in you, combined with the caffein you can expect the heightened awareness to kick in much faster than in 10-20 mins, which, unless you're gifted, should cause you a lot of trouble falling asleep.

I have heard about people drinking green tea during their WBTB. Just make sure you fall asleep before the caffeine kicks in. Also, this sounds like a dental nightmare.

I actually have the special gift your talking about. Sugar doesn't effect my sleep. I can drink very sugary stuff before bed time. I should try this method out

Cool Dare me too, I've eaten so much sugar I have like an immunity too it. And to everybody else I will try this tonight, and I'm not sure about 6 hrs, we'll have to check my plans

      Go to bed : ???
      Wake up 4 hours later
Drink mt. dew since I'll be falling back asleep within a matter of seconds-minutes
      Become aware in dream

That's the plan, results come in tomorrow

How'd it go? I think I'll try this sometime with coffee or tea.

Epic fail. I just tried this with a (very) strong mug of tea but never managed to go back to sleep. If I try again, I'll be smart like n00b, keeping the drink next to my bed so I can chug it whilst trying to wake up as little as possible because if you're still awake by the time the caffeine kicks in, you're screwed. Just make sure to try on a day where you don't have to be anywhere the next Ah well, I resolve to have a lucid nap later.

That was me on Christmas until recently when I got old and boring.
Ah well, maybe I'll try the experiment again some other time. On the plus side, I forgot a day had so many hours in it Oh, and I broke a bit of a lucid dry spell when I had my nap

Yeah Christmas is starting to get more boring each year as I get older, and grats, I have yet to have a stable LD, I've had 1 for like 5 seconds but that doesn't really count.

OnT: I will try 6 hours of sleep either tonight or tomorrow if I have any mt. dew left
