      Question Books for Lucid Dreaming?

      Greetings -

I know there are many books on lucid dreaming out there. It is almost overwhelming.
In you opinion (explain why if you want), what are your top choices for books on lucid dreaming?
Preferably based in science - I don't really believe in the "magic" side of things.

Just for fun, let's say I am limited to a $20 (USD) Barnes & Noble Gift Card (I'm not, but, I do need to use the gift card I have laying around ).

      Thank you,

      Omniscient

Yes, there are several other thread with similar subject matters. However the threads are almost six years old and I didn't want to necrobump

No question, hands down EXPLORING the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge is the book you should get. Any other book you find on lucid dreaming will be based on his work anyways.

If you can avoid getting lost in the belief system, Robert Bruce has some excellent books. Don't be afraid just because he has a more new-agey way of looking at things. The exercises he describes are very useful. I'm currently working through his 90 day program again. Viewed from a lucid dreaming perspective, the meditations are hugely helpful. He has great meditations to learn to direct your awareness, relax your body, silence your internal dialogue, and improve dream recall. If you have some experience with WILD, you can immediately see where his OBE separation tricks apply.

I can recommend "Lucid dreaming - Gateway to the inner self by Robert Waggoner". If you believe in OBEs, "The secret of the soul" by William Buhlman and "Astral dynamics" by Robert Bruce. I think, that the last one is also downloadable online for free.

      Thanks everyone.

So ETWOLD is a definite buy.
Any particular edition I should be purchasing. Looks like there is a 1991 and 1997 version. Difference or just reprinted edition?

I think I have the one from 1991, but don't know the difference between those two years. Sorry.

"Lucid Dreaming Manual" by Marc VanDeKeere was really good

I can second Robert Waggoner's book. Loved it. I have read all the rest mentioned and that is by far my favorite.
Id also recommend "The Lucid Dreamer" by Malcolm Godwin, although its only sold in hardcovers and is a little pricey...

That is the one It is very easy to follow. It progresses a bit too slowly for my taste, but I think that is the whole point. It encourages making time for daily meditation practice. Instead of just reading about it, you actually bank a lot of first hand practice. If you end up doing even half the exercises, you will be an absolute black belt in meditation and trance induction.

I will third Robert Waggoner's book. I got in on my kindle and it provided a lot of motivation when i first started getting into it.

I would pick up Lucid Dreams In 30 Days! They usually carry it at B&N.

Been looking to buy this, is it worth the price? I managed to find some places selling for like $40 which is fine, some sell for $100-$300

If you want something other than all the spiritualistic nonsense, you should definitely read "Dreaming: An Introduction To The Science of Sleep" By J Allan Hobson. A fantastic book which provides a concise scientific explanation of the basics of sleep and dreaming.
