      First lucid dream since joining!

Last night I had my first LD since I was about 14, which was my only LD I ever had had previously. It wasn't nearly as impressive as my first LD, but I feel a bit more motivated after not having any luck since becoming a member of this site.

Since the dream itself was not very interesting, I will just say that I was driving around in my mom's car and trying to find a place to park it because I was afraid I'd ruin it lol But right when I was going to give up parking because I felt it was so difficult, I suddenly had a short moment of awareness and wondered why I would even have my mom's car when I don't drive at all and never have had a car of my own. I then instictively performed a RC by plugging my nose and of course, I could still breathe through my plugged nose! I realized immediately that I was dreaming and I was almost expecting to wake up, but I didn't. So instead of parking the car, I got out of it and forced it to roll down a hill. But then I wanted to bring it back up, and that was significantly more difficult. So I tried making the car reappear in front of me, but I am not sure if it did fully, but it seems like I was getting there... Suddenly the dream began fading, so I rubbed my hands together. That worked for a short time as I tried to take in the dreamscape as I looked at the sky and trees etc. But the dream began to fade yet again and then I stood there in darkness. I must have had a type of false awakening, because I thought I woke up, but I didn't. Instead I slept dreamless sleep for quite awhile before awakening briefly, falling back asleep, and then having a non-lucid dream.

So that was my first experience in a really long time. It may be a modest one, but it seems a definite step in the right direct, I hope.

Hey, sounds pretty good to me, congratulations! Rubbing hands is good for stabilization. Check out some tutorials about stabilizing and control, they may come handy for your next one. Happy dreams

Congratulations for your first lucid dream. When you came to know that you are dreaming, then you do some reality checks. That is really great.

I read a little about stabilization yesterday, but obviously it wasn't enough, because I had another LD again last night after having a WBTB (woke up on my own, as I usually do). I was in what I somehow "knew" must have been the physics room of my school, even though the entire school looked nothing like my real school. Though I'm not entirely sure what made me perform the RC, I suspect it perhaps was the writing on the big whiteboard. After the RC, again by holding my nose, I looked at the writing again and realized I could actually see what was written...but I could in no way actually read it! It was as if my reading ability was lost and I could just see the letters without making sense of them. I want to be careful, so I rub my hands together and look at the floor. Looking at the floor makes me slightly dizzy and disoriented, but it passes. I look at the room around me and decide I'd rather be somewhere else than here, so I try to imagine the place around me changing, but for some reason I am standing with my arms stretched straight up into the air, as if I was trying to float upwards. Suddenly I am pulled into the darkness once again. I try moving, diving, I forget about trying to roll or spin, but I feel my mobilty is limited. I must have lost lucidity as well. I then believe I feel my "real" self twitch on the right leg, so I assume I must be waking up. I must have also been wrong, because I had a false awakening in which I appeared in my room just as it normally is, which was very believeable because I rarely dream of places where I actually have been, and never as exact to the details as my room was. I even begin writing in my dream DJ! I notice however, that my DJ is now written in what appears to be from a pencil, rather than the red pen I use in waking life, perhaps because I do have one pencil lying along with the red pen. But my subconscious almost seems to be trying to trick me, because the words appear slightly red for a moment, as if to satisfy my suspicion. Before I have a chance to RC however, I either woke up for real or just went completely blank. I managed to begin making an entry about what actually happened in my dream DJ though.

Thank you! Much thanks to everyone actually, as you've all been very welcoming and helpful.
I am a bit surprised myself that I have had two LDs just within the past two nights, so the first of many I hope is true!
I am very interested in working on stabilization techniques, so I will be looking around on the forums. If anyone has any links they would like to suggest in particular, I would be very appreciative of that as well!
