      subconscious

So sometimes Ill be in the middle of a deep dream and my subconsciousness will tell me im dreaming or this world isn't real.(Normally its a guy around my age who tells me a sort of simple riddle that makes me realize its a dream.(I think its kind of neat that my subconscious chooses to incarnate itself in that form.) I guess I've been obsessed with dreams for so long my subconscious has caught on or something.

      Does this happen to others?
Does your subconscious do strange things sometimes?

My subconscious tells me or shows me things that isn't possible in real, that's how i know i am in a dream. Read my deep freeze journal, that's how the dreams gives signs it's a dream.

I'm glad im not the only one . But this has got me me thinking that maybe the subconscious guides us alot more than we realize. Its like sometimes I find myself in situations that I really wanted to be in but I wasn't trying to actually make them happen. It kinda feels like maybe its fate but I think its really the subconscious.

Dreams have a strange nature, there is nothing surprising about this. Most DILD techniques are built upon realizing these weird things in the dream.
      I realize that i'm dreaming.
      I realize that i'm dreaming.
      I realize that i'm dreaming.

I find it strange because the person telling me its a Dream ignores the ongoing events or story of the dream. Almost like its a separate entity from the rest of the dream. It seems out of place. Where as normally the out of place seems normal in a dream. For example talking to dead relative is obviously impossible in real life but in a dream its not. So my point is: it seems strange not by real world standards but by dream standards. Not to say it is abnormal but it defiantly gives me the impression that it is abnormal.

Hopefully I explained that well but I don't think I did XD.

It could have been a shared dream, dream characters don't tell you are in a dream, usually you have to figure it out yourself.

That's not necessarily true for this person as it may be for you.

Everyone is different and his dreams may just be a bit more open than yours. Doesn't automatically mean shared dream.

That's actually one of the RCs I learned when first starting LDing. Asking someone if you're dreaming. Normally people in real life will look at you oddly whereas dream people will act different, sometimes even saying yes.

Lightningbulb, you may have found your dream guide ^^, if not, this is just a "normal" dream occurrence.
(normal in quotations since dreams are anything but normal)

In all my dild or milds I have never once seen something that has caused me to realise I was dreaming. Each time it just pops up in my mind, as if my mind is letting me know.

same here; most of the time I just kinda KNOW that I'm dreaming... but I also have had experiences where dream characters inform me that I'm dreaming. I think it really just depends on the person, or the dream.

Yes I experience this often. As someone noted earlier, dream characters do not tell you that you're in a dream (hence you should test your own reality). The more likely reason for you becoming lucid is that you realize something in that world (even the character you spoke of) is a bit odd and begin to question it.

      Whats a dream-guide?

      Thanks for the replies

OK so with all the information that you've guys have given me my best conclusion is this :

In my dreams, I notice something odd, however my regular consciousness is dismissing it. I proceed to continue through the dream not lucid. When that information eventually gets processed through my subconscious it knows better and realizes its a dream. So it sends a me a messenger to tell me. The messenger succeeds in making me realize its a dream.

It feels odd treating my subconscious like its separate entity from myself. However in the dream world it feels like it is separate. And I don't even notice it much when I'm awake. However its awesome that its constantly trying to figure things out and then trying to alert me know somehow. It almost like having a guardian angel but its not an angel its me!

a dream guide is like a recurring dc that tells you stuff about yourself/your dreams, if I am not mistaken.

A dream guide is any dream character who helps the dreamer with exploring the dream world and with controlling his/her dream, simple as that.

Very interesting. I am not yet that far along, I am guessing. I have however noticed that when I am intent on lucid dreaming I experience an increase in dream signs that have the potential to make me lucid. Now I need to increase my awareness a bit more to more frequently trigger lucidity.
