I've had two experiences in successfully reading that I can recall, though they weren't in LDs.
The first, my science teacher was scoring some sort of an odd race thing. You stood in a certain place based on how well you preformed, but the system itself made no sense. However, in the commentary (which was written on some sort of a heavily pixelated television) the words "ahh... sorry" were clearly legible.
The second was right after a FA. In the previous LD, I was bragging to some DCs about how it was all a dream. One of them looked really surprised. In the upcoming FA, a friend of mine on a game I was playing said something along the lines of "who was the one who had an LD last night?". I tried to type "that would be me" which actually worked until halfway through when the computer screen lighting suddenly dimmed to next to nothing. I tried to keep typing by making out the words that I could still see, but then the screen went completely dark and the letters I typed became nonsensical. Then, I looked at the keyboard and discovered that it was completely devoid of English letters and instead had some sort of an odd Greek/Arabic alphabet mashup.
I can read fairly well, from when i've tried to read. Believe it or not, in the race dream we raced in a mashup of nature and a library. I found a scroll titled "Earthbound" which I really wanted to read as I am a huge Earthbound fan. Sadly, I reasoned that I would have time later after the race... damnit.
