      Closing eyes

      Hello everybody.

So, a week ago i had my 3rd lucid dream.
It happened in a false awakening where i noticed my mom and dads living rooms had swapped places (the houses are almost identical in construction). The moment i became lucid i heard a lound windy sound like i did in my 2nd LD so i immediately tried to stabilize, but at the same time i accidentally closed my eyes.

I didn't wake up, in fact, the dream was perfectly stable after that.
So i walked around blind feeling the walls and a doorframe trying to imagine my dream eyes open, but nothing happened.
I read somewhere in here that closing your eyes and reopening them will likely wake you up, and in my case, that was true.
After about a minute i opened my eyes to find myself awake.

So i am a little frustrated that i would even close my eyes in the first place, but i was also hoping some of you guys might have a trick to get your vision back should it ever happen again.

      Thank you very much Michael!

I bet you can imagine how annoying it is to become lucid, only to find yourself blind. xD

      Hey Buhl!

I was lucid this morning too and happened to actually fly a bit around. Then, after 10-15 minutes the dream was sort of fading away and I decided I would try to stabilize again, spinning and closing my eyes. When I quickly opened them again I was in my bed, awake :p Not sure about tips, I actually had closed my eyes previously in the LD without waking up but this time when I was stabilizing I woke up too.

      Thanks for your reply Kruse!

I am sad to hear that your lucid ended abruptly like that, but hey, atleast you got to fly around right?

It's not always true that blinking will cause you to wake up, but some people do have trouble with this. Next time you find yourself in a situation like this, be creative!

I would suggest imagining you have eyepatches on and you reach up and take them off to see again. You can also just pretend the room in dark and find a light switch to return your vision.

      Awesome Mancon!

Wonder why i didn't think of something like that, since it seems to be the basis of dream control for beginners to use solidified expectation instead of just "willing" things to happen.
I can clearly see something like this working.

      Thank you very much.

      Congrats on lucid!

It can be both, the opening your eyes and closing them that may wake you up. People report opening their real eyes by accident.

Dreams are made by our thoughts. If you not looking at something in your dream, if will cease to exist. So if you stop looking at the whole dream, it will stop being there.

But of course, as with everything related to lucid dreaming, this is not always so.

As you say, it's possible to be walking around in total darkness. But you were touching the walls and stuff, so you had at least some sense engaged in the dream, so maybe that kept it alive.

To get rid of blindness, you can try as Mancon suggested removing your eyepatch, your sunglasses, your hood. Or even pry your dream eyes open with your dream hands. It may sound crazy, but I have done it after someone suggested that.

Another thing you can do is put your dream hands infront of your face and start seeing them. Just say "let me look at my hands" and they will start showing. From there, start looking further and further away. This has also worked for me.

Or say "look, there is light behind me". Turn around and see. Or "they are turning the lights on in 5....4....3....2...now! it has lots to do with expectation and feeling of knowing that it's gonna happen.

      Happy dreams everyone

I don't really know if it works but try to summon some kind of "magic glasses" that allow you to see even if you're blind. Tap your pocket and expect it to be there. Or something like that.
