      reality check failled twice

Hi every1 ! after 4h30 hours of sleep last night i woke up pissed of from an almost lucid dream

i was flying in a dinning room, my 13 yo brother watching me very casually and me saying him « you know its like this, very easy»

i was swimming through air ( thats my flying style, altough very slowm and manytimes physically demanding !! )

well, as if i was not sure i performed two RC: piercing my left hand with right fingers, and watcnhig my nose with only one eye. did both once and both normal !! i failed to go lucid

soon after that i woke up, and its just seems very stupid i needed any reality check

if i was flying --> thats a dream, right ??

well, it was funny indeed and i think it is a good example of how we can be fooled by our mind, at least my mind !!

now these two reality checks cant be trusted anymore !! (perhaps they do)

Don't give up on reality checks. You just have to find ones that work better for you, ones that aren't so dependent on your state of mind. You have the right idea with the flying making you realize that you're Dreaming. Take a look around for things out of the ordinary, try to move something without touching it, try to remember what you just did and if you can't you're most likely Dreaming.

Depending on how realistic your Dreams are, you may need RCs more than you think. It may actually be the only thing that lets you know you're Dreaming because your Dreams mirror the Waking world so closely it would be the only way to tell them apart.

In it, saw people I've never seen
      Gone places I've never been
And done things I'd do again.

It's possible that your RCs failing has something to do with you not putting enough or right emotions into practicing them during day.

You have to believe they will work when you RC in daytime. You have to believe you are in a dream. If you don't, you will not believe that in your dream either.

And adding awareness training to your RCs is a good idea.

I've had the finger piercing the palm RC fail on multiple occasions, but I believe it's for the reasons Gab mentioned above. If you approach your RCs during the day with the belief that they will pass and you'll be awake, then that will set a precedent.

thank you all, i definitely agree with you. many times i dont put enough attention in RC as my mindset is so sure im awake. therefore im already biased.

but i took it as a nice lesson, and is very funny to remember that dream

this morning, my RC « fingers trough hand» failed again, and i think my mindset was pretty good. i found later it was a false awakening.

definitely need to get a better RC. Even the light of my bathroom was on i guess, also my pc was on. so maybe lighs are not good for me.

besides that i still miss many odd events.
Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way
