Reality checking, when to do it

I already know many good techniques for reality checking, so I don't need advice on that. I'm just not sure if I should be doing them after/during specific events such as walking into a room, or if I can just be doing them at random whenever it comes to mind.
      Any help is appreciated.

Well, you should be doing them as often as possible, because every time you RC, you raise awareness, since you are checking your state (dream or reality). That is why ADA is a powerful technique, it is an all day long RC. Always knowing what state you are in, always aware.

Most people agree that you should RC at these times:

      After you see a dreamsign

      After you wake up
      to catch FAs
      At random intervals
there are apps for this, or you can just spontaneously do this

Pick something you do a lot through the day and RC during that
walk through doorways, sit down, text someone, check the time (easy since there is an RC for that), etc.

I would recommend having something at your work for the last one if you work 40 hours a week. Just remember that you aren't trying to make it a habit to go through the motions, you are making it a habit to check and see if reality is real. It always seems stupid to actually think that you are dreaming, but at some point, people have that dream that they knew was real, then they found out it was a dream. I spent a couple weeks (seemed like a couple weeks ) in a dream and all of the sudden realized that I was in a dream, this made me realize that it can always be a dream.

I would also recommend adding visualization with RCs as well as WBTB. This will increase your awareness 10X.

All good information, and I thank you for sharing it with me. I also would like to thank you for mentioning that RCs should not just be the hand motions, but the realization that it is probably reality. I have not been doing RCs for very long and I have already got in the habit of just doing the hand motions.

Yeah, that is why I like RCs that aren't just motions, because that can get into a bad habit. That is just me though. Glad I could be of assistance.

To your question, I would say "Both."

Also ALWAYS do a reality check before using the toilet!
---o--- my DCs say I'm dreamy.

I agree always reality check BEFORE using the toilet, because if you are dreaming in bed and not awake in the bathroom it could get messy.
