Did my 5th FLD made me almost lucid dreaming?

For those who don't know, false lucid dream is a dream that you think about lucid dreaming...
Today my 5th false lucid dream made me feel i was about to get lucid but i didn't.

Here it is what i wrote on my dream journal:

"today i dreamt that i was lying down on my bed and started to say
      "I am lucid"
      "I am in a dream"
and i wanted to turning on the lights to make the awareness test (All Day Awareness technique)
but for some reason my lights didn't turn on, and i had to go on the hall because there were some light.
when i got there i realized that i had 9 fingers in each hand, separated by 3 fingers. then i went
to my parents room and decided to show my mom (dreamsign) that i had 9 fingers."

Well i don't know either why i didn't do RC when i saw my mom.
So, i feel this false lucid dreaming was about to make me lucid, but
the reason i didn't was because of some stupid lights that didn't turn on

      What you guys think?

I'd rather call it close LD rather than false LD. I think it is a matter of time and you will get a proper LD, so keep up those RCs! When you are dreaming the rational part of the brain shuts down. This explains why sometimes we fail to recognize when things don't make sense, like having 9 fingers for example. By doing RCs we slowly teach our subconscious to be more alert, so alert that eventually a small fraction of our rational brain is awakened and we have an LD. RCs when done mindfully and ADA work, but may take some time to become effective. Keep up the motivation, you are almost there!

I think this FLD nonsense needs to stop. A "false lucid dream" is still a lucid dream. You still knew that it was a dream EVEN if you didn't activate your logic and access to long-term memory. False LDs imply that you can dream of a lucid dream which is redundant because that is exactly the same thing as a lucid dream where you didn't gain waking cognition. That's it. So simply call it a low-level lucid dream.

As for your actual post, I think your pretty good at it. Just say to yourself before you fall asleep that when you become lucid you will stabilize the dream and try to think of something in your waking life. Then, do some simple math. Enjoy lucidity!

Slenerim, i think you are very very close , you just didn´t achieve full lucidity as Jabre said!

When you become fully lucid you will have no doubt, but as Jabre also said you need to stabilize and awaken your senses to become fully lucid. Memory and math help too. this can take some seconds and you must remember it.

      Good Luck

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

Memory- you remember your intention to stabilize, you remember what you want to do, you remember your dinner last night...

and math also helps to awaken your brain. so memory and math help you become fully lucid and alert, and therefore you can enjoy much more.

I feel like you "know" when it finally hits that breaking point and becomes a lucid dream. That is why it is hard to say when others are actually LDing. It is progress either way. Dreaming about dreaming or dreaming about becoming lucid is a step in the right direction. Keep it up and you will be getting more aware in these dreams. Also, 2 RCs failed without you knowing that you were dreaming. Sometimes when I am walking around like 10 minutes after an RC failed I will suddenly realize it is a dream. That is a really strange feeling. I would say to keep up with the technique you are doing since it is getting you in the right direction. The first lucid is really hard to induce comparatively, so the standard "2 weeks" or "a month" don't apply as much. I kept at my first method and it took me 45 days to lucid. I now lucid all the time with that method.

Hope this helps, good job and good luck!

LOL, my RC is kind of infallible; I try to move the hands of my watch with my mind.
