      Dream Incubation

How do I prepare for it?
I tried it several times, but my goddamn mind goes away everytime and also it's very hard to keep focusing on the place I imaginated.

      How can I improve this?

I've been working on Dream Incubation quite a lot. Search for "crafting a dream world" and you should find my current thread on it.

My method so far has been going about it the way a novelist would create a world-- drawing out a map, planning out some characters/societies, locations, etc. Dream incubation seems to be a very tricky business. I put a lot of effort into my dream world, lots of visualization and lots of notes written down. So far I've had nothing show up.

      Keep at it though man!

That's how I start too, but my mind just blows of all that and It just does something else OR when I try to imagine, all the scene goes black (fades) and I start to see the back of my eyelids :O
And then all over again, screw that....

I have a similiar experience. It seems like I dream what I think a lot about during day. I started playing TF2 a lot and I already had two TF2-related dreams. However, this is like DEILD. Just keep trying and you will get it right one day.

I know the secret to dream incubation.... (Okay maybe it doesn't work for everyone, but it works fantastic for me)

It is known that we often associate strong images with music, and it is known that the ideas we think of when we fall asleep or wake usually stay with us quite well. Put a and b together and you get:

Listen to music as you fall asleep, think of a really strong image and you will likely have a dream about it.
The music has to be soft enough to fall asleep with and a memorable tune, I like to use oriental soundtrack music. Just think of the scene you want as you fall asleep and it might work. I've been using it for a while now and I gotta say it works a hell of a lot better than incubation by chance (in fact it never worked for me by chance )

My ideas for dream incubation is to start small and work your way up. Start with just continuing a dream you were just in, then continue a dream from the previous night, then start a dream from scratch. Here is a tutorial on how to incubate:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/general-dr...-tutorial.html

Weird thing that happens to me, when I incubate after an LD, I don't get the same thing at all, but I normally start the dream out lucid. When waking in the middle of the night I will try and incubate from a prior dream even if it isn't in the same night. This is the same visual exercise I use for WILDing and teleporting inside dreams, so if I am close to a wild I will teleport, if not, I increase the chance of a lucid dream, and if it is a false awakening I will just teleport.

Agree, You can use dream incubation to come up with ideas for novels, screenplays, music, artwork or any other creative artistic endeavours.

So are you guys talking about incubating a dream as in completely creating one from scratch to go into?

I'd like to learn how to do that, but I am more interested in incubating past dreams I have had in order to explore them more, gain better understanding from ones that confused me but which I know had some kind of meaning. I assume the same techniques can be used?
