      Unhappy Scared

First I apologize for my English, I am from Norway

I have never tried LD, but I have heard about and lately I have been reading a lot about LD's. I am very scared to try, but I really want to try it this summer. I HATE mirrors, and avoid scary movies with mirrors, avoid mirrors at night etc. I am really afraid I will find a mirror in my dreams, and see a weird, or scary image of myself. I would never want to sleep again. And, I saw a clip on YouTube, a documentary about Sleep paralysis, where some people have experienced that they were hallucinating about demons and they just couldn't move, and it sounds really scary. Could it happen that something I do in a LD make me do it while sleeping in real life? Example walking out of the bed

Could this happen while paralysis sleep (can I avoid it?), and how can I avoid making mirrors scare me in a LD? Just "try to expect" the mirror image is impossible, I am only thinking that it will scare me.. I really, really want to try, but I am very scared of these two things.

Lucid dreaming is nothing to be scared of. Being "lucid" in a dream merely means being aware that you are in a dream.

We've tried long and hard to discredit all those videos and reports that people spread about lucid dreaming being scary. They are simply wrong.

Sleep paralysis is an unusual condition and more often occurs with people who already have sleep disorders. It is not necessary at all for lucid dreaming.

In answer to your question, lucid dreaming will not make you walk out of bed.

Mirrors need not scare you, and lucid dreaming is not a scary process. With lucid dreaming you can take control of the dream and do things you enjoy, like flying or walking through objects.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Sleep Paralysis is a disorder. Some people have it more often, but if you never had it, than you are not one of them. For a tiny portion of population, SP is a 1-2 in a liffetime event. I have had it twice before, long time before I started lucid dreaming. Since then, I have had about 50 WILDs and many more attempts and didn't have SP a single time. I understand your fear, but it's based on wrong information.

Funny about the mirrors. For some reason, I don't like them either. And I was also scared to see them in a LD. But the thing is, as soon as I enter LD, I forget about ALL my fears. The whole mindset changes when you inside LD. You KNOW that it's just a dream and you can control it and nothing can hurt you. If you ever encounter mirror, you can just walk away from it, same way as you would in waking life. Nothing can force you to look in it.

If you start with DILD induction method, you don't have to worry about SP at all. Or about hypnagogic hallucinations HH, that you can sometimes get when you WILD. Most of the time they are pleasant, especially if you fill your mind with pleasant thoughts. And even if something scary happens, you know it's just a hallucination and you can actually amuse yourself with observing them. They last just a short time anyway, so nice or scary, if you stick with it, you will be rewarded with the best adventure of your lifetime.

Here is a Dreamviews recommended DILD for beginners. Induction Methods and Techniques
And here is DV Academy, if you wish to join any class, where experienced teachers will be happy to help your out. DV Academy

Good luck and happy dreams. Please ask if you have any questions

If you're scared of dreaming, just remember, dreams are in the mind. I've been through that kind of stuff as well, and its not fun. But I started thinking about something else, and then I dreamed about that thing.

What I'm trying to say is that if you don't think about it, it won't happen. If that makes sense.

Fear not the dream, but the mind that creates it. -Some guy I can't remember

Thanks to you all, I feel much better. But even if I lose all my fear as I am entering a Lucid dream, I will be afraid of trying to get in a lucid dream because of the mirrors. Is there any techniques to be sure the mirror won't scare me? I can't go peacefully into a Lucid dream, and will avoid it because I am scared?

Mirrors in my dreams are awesome, they make me look handsome and they really don't make me look totaly ''demonic'' and shits...
Lucid dreaming is something awesome, don't fill your mind with such scary things...
Is there any techniques to be sure the mirror won't scare me? I can't go peacefully into a Lucid dream, and will avoid it because I am scared?
Idk of such a tehnique, but feel free to enter Lucid state without fear at all
Once you go Lucid, all your fears will go away and won't have time thinking of what scary thing could jump out of every corner because you'll have your mind totaly distracted from those thoughts.
      Don't be afraid h

Remember...you dream probably 4 times a night already and in them at the time you think they are real even if later you forget them. And you have no control at all. With LDs you know you are dreaming and control your actions So much better. Dont worry... I think most of us had fears going in since its something new for most of us...fear of the unknown. But its perfectly safe, you discover, and incredible also! Where else can you ever find that? I know of nothing that compares to it, and all from the safety of your own bed.
