      Question Eyelid twitching

So I've got this bit of a problem where when I'm trying to a MILD (Meditation Induced Lucid Dream, not the other one (This is basically WILD except you are meditating rather then sleeping)) where my eyelids start to twitch, and makes it hard to relax, and keep focus on the white noise I have playing. Is there any trick I could do to stop the twitching? Or is this natural while doing WILD like methods?

I've never induced a lucid dream through mediation before, I've fallen asleep while meditating, but I usually have normal dreams. I meditate on a daily basis, and I know what you mean by eye twitching. It can be distracting, but the idea of meditation is to completely clear your mind of any and all things in order to obtain complete relaxation and bring your mind to a state where you can convince your subconscious to help you obtain your goals, like losing weight for example. Not to mention through meditation you can reach other planes of existence and do other things like clear your chakras. The way you know you have successfully put yourself in a meditative state is if there is a noise in the real world but you don't hear it because you have closed your mind off to everything. I've brought myself back to the real world to find my TV was turned on and I had no idea because I didn't let myself hear it. It takes lots practice, but once done not even eye twitching will distract you. Just practice, practice, practice

I know what you mean about the sound disappearing, happened a few times during meditation, but it would often snap back to the sound after a few moments. I don't really beleive in the spirtual side of meditation, or lucid dreaming. I beleive they can help repair damaged parts of your mind, not physically damaged, I mean more psycologically or emotionally. But thanks for the insight too bad I'm probably gonna have to try meditating again later, since my dad just texted me asking what I'm doing (he would rather me doing somthing physical like biking or walking then meditating, so I cant just say meditating >_>) and I can't lie to him and have a clear mind.

Before I go, I did get very close to entering a lucid with this, I felt my hearing slowly fade and my body feel much lighter, and it felt like I was 'transported' to somewhere else. But... I got a bit too excited and opened my eyes too early, which ruined the whole attempt.

Hi LucidBrony, when do you try to do your lucid meditation? Is that during the day or at night?

I don't see how meditating instead of falling asleep can work. To dream, you have to fall asleep.

If you mean you focus on something as you are falling asleep to keep your awareness up, this isn't Meditation Induced, it's what you're meant to do in a regular WILD. The thing you focus on is called an anchor, something you use to keep your mind awake - something to focus on.

Hm, could of sworn I read about a Meditation Induced Lucid Dream method a while back... (no not the other MILD) I guess it was on another forum, and if I do recall it was experimental... so maybe it didn't work out too well. I can settle for doing a normal WILD I guess, and is white noise a good anchor? Or should I try something else?...

Yeah, white noise is a good anchor. Another may be counting in your head. Just something to focus on.

Find more information in Sageous' Class on WILD.

yes you can dream through meditation

      and "anchors" arent reliable

i say get rid of the white noise. meditate. if you meditate into a dream, great. if not, youll fall asleep, in clarity, primed with awareness.

Blackfox, you can't dream through meditation. You can only dream through sleep. If you "dream" during meditation, you are allowing your mind to wander which is opposite of the point of meditation.

Anchors are used to keep your mind aware. If you practise meditation separately from your WILD techniques, then this can help by training your self awareness, but you cannot dream through meditation alone. To dream, you must sleep.

Otherwise, you're daydreaming (again, neither the point of lucid dreaming or meditation).

Saying that dreaming and daydreaming are different is hardly being technical. It's pretty blatant.

The point of meditation is to clear your mind of thoughts and to instil yourself in the present moment. Daydreaming is the act of placing your mind in an entirely different moment.

My point is that although daydreaming can complement lucod dreaming, and can help you by helping you to practise your awareness during the daydream, it is not synonymous with lucid dreaming. They are separate entities.

That wasn't entering a lucid dream, that is the goal of meditating. Once you have successfully meditated you will feel as if you are somewhere else completely. It's in this place that you work on changing yourself. It can be very exciting I remember how excited I was when it first happened to me, but I channeled my excitement into the meditation state and not my physical state so I didn't lose it. I think the idea of lucid dreaming by meditation is more along the lines of convincing you're subconscious to be more open to lucid dreams instead of trying to enter a lucid dream while meditating. It's just like what realdealmagic is saying

Keep trying to make your mind more open to lucid dreaming through meditation though, it can help you a lot.

I've never had any success with it, but I do know you can have very vivid visualization during meditation. My mother, SilentDream used to have sessions of guided imagery, and the way she described it seemed exactly like a dream, only she wasn't asleep she was meditating. Guided visualization meditation--of course, you can also do unguided visualization, which she also got pretty good at. I've tried it, and I can't seem to get the hang of visualizing to that extent, where I am literally "there," but my mother has done it, and I've read other accounts of people who've accomplished this very high level of visualizing. Not sure if you could consider it a dream though, because as you said, she wasn't "asleep" but it is dream-like in that you lose awareness of your physical body and are in the world of your visualization.

Exactly, it's like that. You enter a place in your mind and it's like you are actually there. For me it always seems to be the same place, and while there most is influenced by me and some parts seem to be guiding me towards something, either a thought or an action.

Sorry if it seems to have gotten a little off I tend to get excited about things I am particularly interested in.

Just interested in trying to LD outside of the normal sleeping hours. I am still struggling to get a long LD, and just wondered if maybe lucid day-dreaming was another approach.
I'll have to try and give it a go.
